New Coach

DAMIEN Lyon has played Aussie rules for as long as he can remember.

So when he moved to Boyne Island last year, he sought out BITS Saints.

"I wanted to play footy," Lyon said.

"I've played all my life."

After playing with the team and assisting with coaching last year, Lyon was given the A-grade coaching job this season.

Although he said this would be his first stint in the top job Lyon said he had plenty of experience in the game, playing in both the VFL and QFL and spending one year at Collingwood.

Lyon said he was looking forward to the season during which he hoped to play as well.

As defending premiers Lyon has high hopes.

"Obviously I would like to continue the trend and win another premiership and go three in a row," he said.

All Lyon said he would be asking of the boys was for more consistency this year and to make sure they were all playing for each other.

BITS have been back training for two weeks and Lyon said anyone interested could head down to training at Tannum Sands Surf Club at 6.15pm on a Thursday or the BITS fields at 6.15pm on a Tuesday.

"We just want to get guys down to train," he said.

"If they like it they can stay."
