SENIORS – Sponsored by Merkon & the Sandbelt Hotel
This was another case of the side who was switched on from the first bounce would likely get the early advantage. Our early forward entries were poor which made scoring difficult. Despite our slow start, our miserly defence led by Kenny, Donger and ‘Doc’ Gilbert were able to restrict Dingleys scoring. Willow and Heater provided great link up and drive though the middle to tip the balance our way and Jarryd Allen’s goal-kicking continues to impress. With an even contribution we eventually wore them down to record a satisfying 15 point victory. This week it is off to Clayton, home of the finals for another solid test against an in form team.
RESERVES – Sponsored by Cushion Lounge & Pearo’s Plumbing
With first playing second it was a mouthwatering matchup with only 2 games remaining till finals. The Dingoes jumped away early but were unprepared for our relentless attack on the contest. Lewy starred after returning from a long break as did the massive time-piece who dominated the air. Tim East’s great season as our key forward continued with another 5 goals. Boof and Prewy gave us poise and drive around the packs and we unleashed a final quarter unlike anything the ladder leaders would have seen all year. A 9 goal to 1 last term led us to a resounding 34 point victory which will fill the club with confidence from here on in.
COLTS - Sponsored by Premium Painting & Bar 9T4
After producing our cleanest opening quarter for the year were we held the footy in our forward fifty for 80% of the quarter we took our foot off the pedal enough to give the Dingley colts some hope. Dave Breileys clearance work at the stoppages was a real highlight as was his delivery into our forward arc. Longy (3 goals) and Trav (2goals) combined well and were giving the Dingley defence some headaches. The talented Tim Roberts played 4 solid quarters and was well supported by the dashing Taylor Mancal from defence. The 40 point win sealed 5th spot.
NETBALLERS
The girls played East Brighton in the semi final and were unlucky to lose by 2 points to end a very enjoyable season. Our best players were Eliza, Morgan and Mikaela.
Congratulations on a great effort and hopefully it’s the springboard of better things to come.
Thank you to Eliza and the girls for making St. Paul’s a place for everybody , not just footballers
