Jake Williams Takes Home His 2nd Best & Fairest Award

Jake Williams Takes Home His 2nd Best & Fairest Award at a glittering night at The Sovereign In Northcote before an enthusiatic crowd. Chris Belbasis took out the Reserves, Michael Perfetto the 19s with Steph Blyth taking home the Section 1 Netball B&F and an amazing 4 way tie in the Netabllers 2nd team. Kevin Hardy was awarded the Best Clubman Award.

In an amazing count the award was not decided until the last vote was read and that was a 5 votes for J Williams to snatch the award from equal 2nd place Pece Micevski & Luke Cotchett. In an amazing seaon Jake broke his collarbone in the practice matches and did not return to the field till round 5 and went on amazing run of Best On Grounds in the middle of the season. This is Jakes 2nd Club B&F winning the title in his first year. Pece Micevski was awarded with another top 3 finish after a very consistent year and first year player Luke Cotchett proved he is a very handy footballer with a very solid year. In what was a very tight count Andrew Luzza, Matt Vasilevsk, Kris Bardon & Shaun Gannon were not far of the top 3.

In the B Grade Chris Belbasis streaked away from the field including Comp B & F Shaun Barker in 2nd and Jon Hiho in 3rd. The 19s saw Michael Perfetto pip Mitch Tobin & Joey Khahil in another thrilling count.

Garrett McDonagh picked up the prestigious Preston YCW District Cricket Club Rising Star Award at the tender age of 16. The award was presented by an elated Lorraine Ireland who sees Garrett take the field for YCs in the summer as a promosing cricketer. Garrett was the only award winner not present on the night as he was playing Gaelic Football in Perth. The award was accepted by his mother Therese .

The Lakeside Netball Club was in attendance in great numbers and wasn't it great to see all the girls in their finest and with the boys following suit (even The Great Coolwater got his suit out) made the night fantastic and one that will be hard to top in the future.

The Netball awards went to our Trainer Steph Blyth from last years winner Reb McMahon and Hannah Borci in 3rd. In the 2s Netball it was a 4 way tie between Jane Scheetz, Lauren Allen, Allison May & Emily Thomson. The Presentations were well received from their coaches and senior footballers Jake, Adam & Niall and a souvenior booklet was presented to all the players to celebrate a great year and hopefully a 3rd team in 2013.

The night climaxed with the Netballers and Reserves once again celebrating their premiershios loudly and proudly.

On the night Shaun Gannon accepted the Justin Hawkins Tackling Award with 76 tackles. Kevin Hardy was awarded with the coveted Best Clubman Award after several years service as umpire escort, pie stacker, goal post padding, table & chairs setting up and all round great bloke.
