The Vultures under 6 team played their first game on Saturday 4 May. Jack, Wyatt, Beau, Archie and Dimi did a great job. Thanks to Zeke Taylor for taking on the coaching role today. If you know of any more younger players who would like a game, please ask them to contact the club.

This season the Mt Gravatt Vultures looks to implement a mentoring program for players. The mentoring program provides older boys the opportunity to pass on their football skills and knowledge whilst improving their leadership qualities within the club. They will act as a role model for our Junior players.

Get Started is one of 3 funding programs that comprise the QLD Government’s Get in the Game initiative to support sport and recreation at the grassroots level. It assists children and young people who can least afford or may otherwise benefit from joining a sport or recreation club. Sign on days for new players for 2013 will take place on the weekend of 9 & 10 February. Apparel sales will also be available on those days. Further information will be available closer to those dates.

Our club is located on the corner of Klumpp and Logan Roads Upper Mount Gravatt. Our aim is to build a strong junior club with a community atmosphere for players, parents and supporters where each player receives a fair equal opportunity through a supportive and encouraging environment to learn and develop football skills and enjoy playing AFL.

Congratulations to Hannah, Ashleigh, Lyndelle & Annamieka on being selected in the Brisbane Flames U17 Girls team and also to Anansa, Ashanti and Felicity for joining the Suncoast Storm team. They will compete in the KooGa Under 17 Youth Girls State Championships in Cairns 26 - 28th October. Teams will play 5 games in a round robin format with the Queensland U18 Team for 2013 to be announced at the culmination of the championships. We wish all our girls a great tournament, enjoy the experience!

Over 300 players, parents and volunteers turned out for the AFL Brisbane Juniors Gala awards at Kedron Wavell Services Club on the 28th of August. Ex-Brisbane Lions star Richard Champion hosted the event with current players Daniel Merrett, Tom Rockliffe and Pierce Hanley serving as medal presenters for the evening. The club's annual trivia night was held at the Mt Gravatt Bowls Club and proved to be a roaring success. With the Grim Reaper asking the questions, the crowd was only slightly rowdy! Andrew Torney and his table proved, once again, to have heads full of "interesting" recalled facts - including total recall of jersey numbers! Thanks to all our sponsors and the big effort put in by the committee and a committed bunch of helpers on the night. Check out the Photo Gallery of the night.

Vulture Junior teams were treated to a special training session this week with Brisbane Lions Captain Jonathon Brown and team mate Dane Zorko. Junior players from U6-10's were put through their paces by the Lions champions. A huge thank you to the Brisbane Lions players for coming to Mt Gravatt. The newly formed Mt Gravatt Vultures U6 Team made their 2012 debut in stunning style at Rochdale today. In an amazing performance the future champions of our club took to the field for their first ever game for the club. Well done to all the boys and click here to check out some photos....
