GWS U16 Squad
The Under 16s GWS Giants Academy Squad has been named and the Campbelltown Swans have 2 members in the squad which is a great effort. Congratulations to Nic Miezio and Josh Timbrell for their acceptance into the academy in 2013.
This will allow Nic and Josh opportunities to have some specialist coaching and further develop their game. As a club, we are extremely proud of these 2 young men for their effort to make the academy.
Nic is a new Swan having been a kangaroo for the last few years but he definitely belongs and deserves this recognition.
Josh has only just finished his 2nd year of competitive football but is a real competitor and has been rewarded for a great work ethic.
Also, we would like to take the opportunity to say how proud we as a club are in the effort of Nathan Sicklen and Jake Lombardo in trying out for the academy. Nathan just missed out after an impressive trial period and Jake was unlucky to get an injury half way through the trial period which hurt his chances. The trial process was gruelling and the boys all pushed themselves to new levels under the tutelage of some good coaches. They all excelled under the pressure of academy trials.
Fantastic effort by all 4 young men and we look forward to seeing all 4 of them back in the red and blue doing what they do best for the Campbelltown Swans in 2013.
Selected to participate in a competition tournament in Canberra over consecutive weekends representing Western Sydney, from the Campbelltown Swans were Nic Miezio and Joshua Timbrell.
The boys did wonderfully against the best in the GWS region (which covers such areas as Wagga, Broken Hill, Canberra, Albury, Blue Mountains and St Clair, as well as our region of Camden, South Campbelltown and Wollondilly).
We would like to announce that Joshua Timbrell, even though he suffered ankle damage in the games, did enough to impress and has been selected into the GWS Giants Under 16s academy for 2013. Joshua is the only player in the South West Region and is joined by one player from the Western Region with the rest of the boys being made up of guys from the other regions. This is fantastic recognition and opens the door up for Joshua to continue his AFL journey and develop his skills further.
Congratulations J.T and we wish you all the best with the academy.
We will keep you all updated as he progresses through the academy.
