Teams generally form 5 a-side school based groups playing on 1/4 field sized pitches with small goals. North Shore United continues to support the Federation and is committed to Small Sided Games for both the development and enjoyment of the players. Additionally we will continue with youth players managing pre-game warm-ups and refereeing. This benefits both youth and midget development.
In addition to this, skills based training will be offered weekly with the Midget Director of Coaching and his assistants. This will be conducted at Allen Hill on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights between 16:00 and 17:30. For midget players this is included in the standard subscription fee. Details are below.
Development squads will be available in both the Under 7 and Under 8 age-groups. These squads will play in inter-club age group tournaments. Should you wish to be in a Development Squad in this please select "Trials Required (Development)" under the Football Level on your registration. The charge for development squads for will be at a reduced rate of $85.

What
This is a move towards paid coaching for the midgets program. We aim to take the workload off parent coaches and provide consistency to children’s football coaching.
Each team has been allocated a time slot either Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday afternoons. Approximately 5 to 7 teams will be training together for 45 minutes. The timetable is based around school attendance, similar to team selection for Saturday play. Every effort has been made to provide a roster that is convenient to all. However with 280 midget children it is not possible to fulfil individual requests. Especially as we have to consider coaches timetables, ground availability and daylight hours.
When
Due to a tight time-frame, all children are asked to be ready to go at or before their allocated time. Training must start and finish on time. All balls, cones and other equipment will be supplied. Children are asked to wear suitable clothing, football boots and have a drink bottle on hand. Parents coaches or managers are asked to help marshal the troops and maybe asked to assist club coaches at times.
