What about uniform and any other costs?

Once a player is selected in a team they will be given a Brendale Bobcat's playing singlet to wear at games. At the end of each game they will return it to the Team Manager. Players need to wear appropriate footwear, and plain, black, sports shorts without pockets or zips.

Is there any way I can reduce my fees?
Northside Wizards and participating clubs have implemented a volunteer rewards and recognition scheme that offers free or discounted registration fees to club executives and coaches. Please contact your Registrar or email administrator@northsidewizards.com for more information. Your child may also be eligible for assistance under the Qld Government's "Get in the Game" initiative. Check here for more information.

How do our fees compare with other associations and clubs?
Some other clubs offer a weekly or per-season fee. Some also offer a cheaper registration fee but higher game, training and/or nomination fees. This may appear to be a cheaper option, however when you calculate the fees over the course of a year it actually becomes more expensive than what our clubs and association are charging.

What about games?

U11 & U13 are played on Saturday mornings generally from 8.00am. U15 -U21 games are played on Sunday later afternoons and early evenings. All games are nearly always played at Boondall, Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

What about trainings?
Training days and times are not know until after sign-on/trials when Brendale Bobcats know exactly how many teams are participating and how much court space is required that fits in with court availability. Each team is allocated one hour per week and all players are expected to attend.  Generally training is on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons.

What is the difference between participating and non-participating clubs?

Participating clubs are eligible to vote at the Wizards AGM, have a say in how the competitions and association are organised, and have a standard club fee structure. They also provide uniforms, training and Brendale Bobcats also has a presentation day.  Non-participating clubs, independent teams and school teams usually only have a small number of teams, their own fee structures and do not have a say in how our competitions and association operate.  However they still are required to abide by the assocation rules and the "point system" when forming a team.  This ensures that teams are not heavily stacked in terms of skill level so that no one team dominates the competition.

My child wants to play in 2 age groups. How do we advise our club?
Please email the Registrar.

Can we join anytime during the year?
There are three seasons that match school terms: Term 1 - Grading season, Term 2 & 3 - Championship season, Term 4 - Summer season. Players can join anytime of the year however, it is easier if players join prior to the beginning of any of the three seasons.  They will only be able to join after the intital registration/grading day if there is space on a team or enough on the waiting list to form a new team and a coach and manager are able to be sourced.

Grading, Championship and Summer Season Policy

Brendale Bobcats Grading Season – Championship Season Policy

Players are placed in age group teams based on Brendale Bobcat’s Selection Policy. The Grading Season allows Bobcat Coaches and the Technical Coordinator to make judgments about how individual players progress and perform. It also allows decisions to be made about how teams fair against opposition clubs and then make adjustments accordingly. These judgments are made by the Technical Coordinator and age group Coaches. The Wizard’s Competition Manager and Development Officer/s may also be asked for their opinion and expertise. Ultimately, the Technical Coordinator will have the final say.

It is not always in the best interests of the individual players, the teams or the club, for players to remain in the same team or division in Grading and Championship Seasons. Changes can and will be made if deemed in the best interests of the individual players, the club and the competition. These judgments are made by the Technical Coordinator and age group Coaches. The Wizard’s Competition Manager and Development Officer/s may also be asked for their opinion and expertise. Ultimately, the Technical Coordinator will have the final say.

 Brendale Bobcats Summer Season Policy

The Northside Wizard’s Summer Season is currently played in term four of a school year, about September – December.

POLICY

Players are placed in age group teams based on Brendale Bobcat’s Selection Policy. Bobcat Coaches and the Technical Coordinator will make judgments about each player. There will be a deliberate attempt to mix the teams differently than they were during the Championship Season, if the number and standard of players allows it to be done. These judgments are made by the Technical Coordinator and age group Coaches. The Wizard’s Competition Manager and Development Officer/s may also be asked for their opinion and expertise. Ultimately, the Technical Coordinator will have the final say.

Player Selection Policy

Brendale Bobcats Selection Policy

Once registered, players will trial with others in their own age group. The Technical Coordinator, identified Coaches and the Wizard’s Development Officer/s will assess the strength of the cohort and the individuals. Parents/families may make requests for a variety of reasons. These requests will be taken into account by the Technical Coordinator but no guarantee is provided due to the many other variables to take into consideration. Decisions at trials are based on what is seen on the day and made with the ‘big picture’ taken into account ie what is judged as being best for all players in an age group.
