Our Commitment To Privacy

 

Member privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, Dragons provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.

The Information We Collect

 

Dragons collects personally identifiable information in respect of its Members including their name, postal address, telephone numbers, email address, date of birth, gender, school attended and medical information and maintains this in a member database. The database is maintained by our Registrar and is not accessable online.

Whenever you visit Our Website, our web host or internet service provider, may record general information for evaluation and review. As with most websites, this information is likely to include:

• Your internet or IP address including your domain name;
• When you visited Our Website;
• The pages you visited and any information and documentation you downloaded;
• The website you were looking at immediately preceding your visit to Our Website; or
• Basic information about the types of computer operating system and web browser you are using.

This information is used by Dragons to operate and maintain the quality of Our Website and to provide general statistics regarding use of Our Website. It will not be used to identify you or your internet viewing activity.

How We Use Information

 

Dragons primary purpose for collecting personal information is to manage its register of members used to provide services to our Members. This includes (but is not limited to) facilitating communication between members, coaches and team managers either by telephone, mail or email and administering the activities and team nominations of Dragons with Brisbane Basketball Inc and the Hills District PCYC. This may include paying fees and charges as levied. We take steps to ensure that the information is obtained lawfully and by fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive way. Whenever Dragons collect, use or disclose personal information, we ensure it is accurate, complete and up to date.

Members personal information may also be disclosed to Dragons Management Committee members, Coaches or Team Managers for the purposes described above. All such recipients are informed of their obligations to protect the security and privacy of Member information and not to use personal information for any unauthorised purposes. Dragons does not sell, rent or lease its member lists to third parties. All collected information will be protected against loss and unauthorised use or disclosure.

Dragons may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send members email or postal mail or provide other member support. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Dragons and its members and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

Dragons use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

Unless required by law, Dragons will not disclose Member's personal information to any other person, organisation or company without seeking express consent first.

Permission To Publish Information

 

Dragons has established Our Website to provide internet content for members and the worldwide web at large to promote and advertise the Club. This includes (but is not limited to) advertising and recognising social events and honorary appointments and achievements of, or awards received by, individual members or teams of the Club. Unless a Member specifically advises the Club to the contrary, on being admitted as a member of the Club the Member is deemed to have provided their permission to publish information on the terms described below. Any Member who does not wish to have their images or name appear on Our Website, must contact the Secretary of the Club in writing or email nbba@northbrisbanebasketball.com.au.

The Member gives Dragons permission to:

• record photographs, sounds and video images of the Member while they are taking part in any Dragons activities;
• reproduce and publish either on Our Website or in any other form, photographs, sounds or video images of the Member recorded during their Dragons activities or submitted to the Club by the Member; and
• name the Member and publish information about their achievements or activities.

In giving this permission:

• the Member does not lose ownership rights over their photographs, sounds, or video images;
• the Member will not be paid for any photographs, sounds, video images or news recorded or published by Dragons;
• the Member retains ownership of the intellectual property rights in their photographs, sounds and video images; and
• ownership of the Member's intellectual property is not transferred to Dragons in any way.

How To Access Or Correct Your Information

 

Members have a right to:

• request access to information which Dragons holds about them; and
• ask us to correct information about them which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

If Members wish to access and verify the personal information that Dragons hold about them, please forward your request in writing (including preferred contact phone numbers) to The Secretary, North Brisbane Basketball Assn Inc, P.O. Box 64, Arana Hills QLD 4054. To protect Member's privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections to personal information. Dragons' policy is to consider any requests for access or correction of personal information at the Management Committee meeting held immediately after receiving your written request.

If Members want to change personal information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date, please email your request for correction to nbba@northbrisbanebasketball.com.au or contact the Secretary in writing.
