Summer Season Information
West Brisbane Falcons Information for Parents- Summer Season
Welcome to the Falcons Nest for the 2012. Here is some information for you before the season starts so you have everything under control.
Playing Singlets are provided by the club. Each team will have a set of singlets for the players to wear.
Shorts- You can buy the club shorts through our Online Store (linked on our website). Orders are processed by our suppliers at 12pm each Monday. The goods are delivered to the club (following Friday) and then they are distributed at the next training or game. Falcons Shorts are not compulsory for the Summer Season. If you are not wearing Falcons shorts then the shorts CANNOT have pockets or anything sharp or hard on them such as zippers or buckles.
Shoes- Non-Marking Shoes. This is fairly standard for most schools these days and it applies to the courts we train and play on.
Training Gear- Anything that they are comfortable running around in.
Jewellery (Boys & Girls)- No jewellery can be worn during games so we encourage all players not to wear it to and during training. This includes earrings, watches, necklaces etc... This also saves some tears when players don't lose their jewellery particularly watches at training. Earrings are not allowed to be taped over so please if there are plans to have ears pierced, do it after the season ends.
Training- Please bring a basketball if you have one. We do have club basketballs but obviously don't always have enough to cover everyone. Please make sure it has your name and phone number on the basketball if you are bringing one. A Water Bottle is essential at training so please bring one and make sure it is filled.
Training Venue- We are very fortunate to have a 2 court stadium to train on. Please keep it tidy and if you use a chair to sit on while your child train place it back in to the storeroom at the end of training. We have a great relationship with Centenary High and we hope it is something that continues for many years to come.
Club Merchandise- We do have a number of items in our Online Store including Shorts, Socks, Bags, Reversible Training Singlets, Hoodies etc... Please take the time to have a look.
Player/Parent Code of Behaviour- The Player and the Parent Code of Behaviour can be found on the club’s website. The club fully supports and endorses both codes of behaviour.
Basketball Rings & Backboards- Please be aware that Centenary State High School & West Brisbane Falcons have a no dunking policy in regards to the sports & rec centre. Any backboard or ring broken by a player will be paid for by the player/parent if in violation of this policy.
The rule is if a player is seen hanging from the net, ring or back of the backboard then they are to be removed from training immediately and will not participate in that session. The coach then will report this player’s name to the club via email. If there is a second incident the player will be expelled from the club.
This also applies to the hoops being lowered so that players can dunk the ball. Any team or player seen to be doing this will be subject to the same penalties listed above in this heading.
We hope this covers most areas but if we have missed something there is a Club Profile located on our website for you to read to help answer your questions. If you do have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.
