West Brisbane Falcons GBL Women's Player Leeara Creet, a member of the Newberry College women’s basketball team which clinched a berth to the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament as announced by the NCAA on Sunday night. Newberry emerged as the No. 6 seed in the Southeast region and will play No. 3 Francis Marion in the opening round. Leeara has been a West Brisbane Falcons Player for numerous years playing juniors and now senior basketball for the mighty Falcons where we have won 3 consectutive U23 GBL Women's titles in the BBI Competition.

Newberry returns to the tournament for the first time since making the tournament for three consecutive seasons from 2005 to 2007.

Newberry (21-8) compiled a 19-7 in-region record to lock up the sixth seed despite falling in Sunday’s Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament championship game to Tusculum. The Pioneers’ SAC championship granted them an automatic bid to the tournament and the No. 7 seed.

Lander solidified the No. 1 seed and will serve as the host to the Southeast Region. The first round of games will take place on Friday, March 12 U.S. Time), with the regional matchups running through Monday, March 15. The game has been scheduled for 12pm Friday March 12 (U.S. ET) which, if my maths is any good, is 3.00am Saturday March 13 (Qld Time).

The winner of Newberry’s game against Francis Marion will face the winner of No. 2 Clayton State and No. 7 Tusculum in the second round.

The Elite Eight will begin on Tuesday, March 23, and be held in the St. Joseph Civic Arena in St. Joseph, Mo., on the campus of Missouri Western State University.
