Match Report - 17th-23th of December

Beechworth A3 team have suffer a major hit to their premiership defence with their 94 to 99 shot loss to Ovens in the Ovens & Murray Bowls Pennant Season.

 

Beechworth won two of the four rinks with the team of T. Stockdale (s), K. Waring, D. Bright and R. Robinson been the best team with their 30-14 shot win over K. Allan team. The team of I. Soulsby (s), P. Keogh, S. Kelly and B. Gazzola also winning with their 23-18 shot win over T. Johnson team. B. Fitzpatrick team had a close 28-30 shot loss over F. Smith team to give Beechworth a fighting chance of winning. However C. Sunderland team suffered a 13-35 shot loss to F. Newman team to leave Beechworth five shot short of a victory. The result gives Beechworth only four points to leave them outside the top four in fifth, six points away from Ovens who are now in fourth. Beechworth must now win their final three games against Bright, Yarrawonga/Mulwala Golf Club Resort and Wangaratta to have any chance of guaranteeing a place in the finals.

 

Beechworth B3 team have booked their spot in the finals after their 82 to 46 shot win over Corowa Civic on the weekend. Beechworth won two of the three rinks with the team of I. Sekulic (s), M. Howes, E. Evans and G. Smart winning 33-11 over L. Pyke team. The team of T. Thompson (s), T. Chambeyron, S. Cameron and J. Chambeyron was the other winning team with their 33-13 shot win over L. Elliot team. However L. Smart team loss 16-22 to leave Beechworth with twelve of the possible fourteen points to keep them third on the ladder and unable to drop any lower than fourth place. They will now take on second place Wangaratta after the New Year break.

 

Beechworth C1 team had a 30 to 63 shot loss to Yackandandah on the weekend. K. McIntosh team when down 20-34 over R. Bullivant team and R. Holmes team when down 10-29 over J. Holland team. Beechworth stay sixth on the ladder and will now take on Chiltern after the New Year break.

 

Beechworth Midweek team had a close one shot loss to Corowa Services last week. In the 69 to 68 shot result, Beechworth won two of the three rinks to give them four points, enough to stay second on the ladder. They will take on fourth place Yarrawonga/Mulwala Golf Club Resort after the New Year break.
