Match Report - 19th-25th of November 2012

Beechworth A3 team have defeated Wangaratta 90 to 87 shots on the weekend in the Ovens & Murray Bowls Pennant Season.

Beechworth won two of the four rinks with the team of T. Stockdale (s), K. Waring, R. Robinson and T. Chambeyron winning 25-19 over W. Vyner team. The team of I. Soulsby (s), R. Bayliss, P. Keogh and B. Gazzola also won by six shots with their 23-17 shot win over P. Selwood team. The team of W. Page (s), C. Sunderland, T. Bright and S. Kelly ended up having a 20-20 shot draw over I. McNamara team. However B. Fitzpatrick team when down 22-31 to give Beechworth fifteen of the possible eighteen points to move them into third place on the ladder. They will now take on St James next week, who lost their top of the table match against Wodonga by 114-68 shots to leave both teams on 98 points.

 

Beechworth B3 team has won their top of the table match against Wangaratta to leave them only one point away from them on the ladder. In their 78-75 shot win, Beechworth won only one of the three rinks with the team of C. Leentjes (s), R. Howard, S. Cameron and J. Chambeyron winning 29-17 over P. Moran team. However both I. Sekulic team and L. Smart team when down 22-25 and 27-33 respectively to give Beechworth only ten of the possible fourteen points to keep them in second, with the top three separated by only four points. Beechworth will now play third place Wodonga, who had a 90-50 shot win over Bright last week.

 

Beechworth C1 team have had a 54 to 47 shot loss to Chiltern on the weekend. Beechworth did win one of the rinks with the team of R. Holmes (s), G. Bailey, T. Thompson and M. Gardner winning 31-18 over T. Rowland team. However G. Sinclair team when down 16-36 over B. Martens team to leave Beechworth with only two points, meaning they drop down to fifth on the ladder. Beechworth will now travel to play Benalla, who had a 25-54 shot loss over Wodonga last weekend.

 

 

Beechworth Midweek team have continued their great season with a 73 to 57 shot win over ladder leaders Ovens last week. Beechworth won two of the three rinks to give them twelve points to be only ten points away from Ovens. They will now play Benalla this week who are only three points away from Beechworth on the ladder, after their 82 to 63 shot win over Corowa Services.

 

The Men’s Club singles final was played on Sunday with Barry Fitzpatrick defeating Wayne Page 25 to 21 shots. Wayne started with a 6-0 lead after 2 ends before Barry won nine of the next twelve ends to lead 14-11. Wayne then won four of the next five ends to lead 21-17, putting him within four shots of victory. However Barry won the next five ends in a very close game to win by four shots. Barry will now represent Beechworth at the champion of champions later in the season.
