Beechworth A3 team have made it to the Preliminary Final against St James after defeating Ovens 102 to 81 shots in the Ovens & Murray Bowls Pennant Finals.
Beechworth won three of the four rinks with the team of B. Fitzpatrick (s), R. Bayliss, B. Walch and K. Waring been the big winners with their 33-14 shot win over K. Allan team. The team of T. Stockdale (s), C. Sunderland, D. Bright and T. Chambeyron won their game 26-13 over T. Johnson, and the team of W. Page (s), R. Robinson, T. Bright and S. Gardner won their game 23-20 over F. Smith team. The team of I. Soulsby (s), P. Keogh, I. Pritchard and S. Kelly ended up going down 20-34 over F. Newman team. The result means Beechworth will now take on minor premiers St James, who had a close 97-93 shot lost to Wodonga who now advance to the A3 Grand Final.
Beechworth B3 team have also advance to the Preliminary Final after their 70 to 68 shot win over Bright. Beechworth only won one rink with the team of L. Smart (s), R. Howard, G. Crutchett and R. Saunders getting Beechworth over the line with their 34-13 shot win over T. Barker team. The team of Sekulic (s), M. Howes, S. Cameron and G. Smart had a close 19-23 shot loss to D. Sellick team. The team of C. Leentjes (s), T. Thompson, J. Kelly and J. Chambeyron had a 17-32 shot lost to D. Kupferle team. Beechworth will now take on Wodonga, who had a 92-65 shot lost to Wangaratta.
The Beechworth Hibernian Hotel Open Triples was played on Sunday in great sunny conditions. There were teams from Beechworth, Bright, Chiltern, Mount Beauty, Myrtleford, Nagambie, Wangaratta and Wodonga. The winning team was Mason Bayliss (s), Richard Bayliss and Rickie Robinson with three wins and 22 shots up, one shot more than P. Smyth team that finished second. George Lockwood team were the winners of the best game win after winning their second game by 20 shots over N. Jensen team.
