Last Saturday, the club took on our arch rivals Springbank at Springbank for the Jimmy Toohey Memorial Trophy. The day started off bad with Springbank kicking the first 3 goals the first 10 minutes, but then the eagles replied with 3 of their own to be in front at quarter time. The game then become very tough for both teams with the rain making the surface very tiring for the guys. With 5 minutes to go, Springbank were up by 5 points after the eagles had been up at 3 quarter time. It looked Springbank would retain the trophy but the guys dug extremely deep thanks to Nath Rogers and Ryan Aquilina kicking very important goals to put Gordon in front. When the Siren went, Gordon had won by 5 points, but Luke Gunnell kicked a goal after the siren to everntually win by 11 points to win back the Jimmy Toohey Memorial Trophy. Better players were Tye and James Murphy, Nathan Rogers, Ryan Aquilina, Luke Toohey and Cam Allen.

In the other games, the reserves were easily beaten, but put in a galleon effort right to the end. Better players were Luke Laux and Shea Murray. The Under 18's were easily beaten by a genuine premiership contender. The Under 15's were also beaten easily to a team who will feature well in the finals.

In the Netball, The girls struggled in all grades but put in some great efforts. Springbank have for many years had very good netball teams and last Saturday was very much the same.

On the Social Scene, our next and last function of the year after the Ballan game is our Black Tie Last Man Standing at the Gordon Hall. Tickets are $30 each with food provided. See Bare, Stew or Emma for tickets.

This weekend, we play Dunnstown at Gordon. This will be a challenging day for the eagles, but will put in their best efforts to control the good teams the Dunnstown Produce. GO EAGLES!!!
