SENIORS PREMIERS 2008

Reserves Runners Up 2008

U/17's Elimination Finalists 2009

Colbo FC would like to thank all of there sponsors this year for there continued support in making 2009 another great year.

Well here we are for the biggest day on the HDFL Calendar, and it’s great to see Colbo in Grand Final action on both fields of grass and asphalt. Last week those who saw it, believe it was one of the best game of netty played in the HDFL for a long time. Rumours are abound that Funky spent considerable time massaging Jess’ feet on Saturday night after her 2hr marathon on Saturday – it’s great to see the rolls reversed for once.

Our A-graders face the powerful Hillies combo today in what should be a great grand final. Colbo FC certainly wish Ann and her troops all the best. John Vale has done a terrific job with the thirds this year getting our colts to the finals again, and also developing the local talent with some making senior debuts. The future looks really bright for colbo and supporters are excited about the next generation coming through the ranks.

Today our Reserves front up for their third consecutive grand final, hopefully Kano and Hayden can conjure up a plan that will reverse the trend of the past 2 years results. Although there can only be 22 players, it has been a consistent effort of a group of 28 blokes who have contributed throughout the season to reach today’s pinnacle and the club and coaches certainly value the input of all involved.

It’s also a third straight GF appearance for our senior group after winning comfortably last week against LBU. Today it’s the saints again in the season’s biggest game. Funky has brought together a committed group of footballers who are hungry for success, it would be great to see another flag at Colbo come 5pm today. It would be just rewards for the hard work that is done behind the scenes with Macca McRae and Bart providing quality support to Brent as well as our strong working band of committee people.

Special mention to Ben ‘Cheezel’ Johnston who has become only the 3rd person to win a second Cheatley medal in History. Ben joins an elite group and will no doubt lead the way again in today’s big game. Special mention to Wizard for his 4th place in the count and to Doaky for his 3 votes in the reserves vote count.

Congratulations also go to  Grant Weeks for winning the Great Ideas Public vote, Nathan East and Guy Rathjen being joint runners up in the reserves count , Andy Nisbet winning the League Reserves Goal kicking, Harry Weppner runner up in the U/17 league B&F and Laura Tait for Runners Up in C Grade Netball.

Congratulations to Trent mcCormick on his 50th game today.

All players, supporters and hangers on are encouraged to get back to the Colbo Hall tonite, and also to tomorrow’s family day at the Bowls Pavilion. Our next gathering will be on Oct 11th at Lake Cooper for the Presentation Day.
