WELCOME ALL TO THE 2015 FOOTY SEASON

How fast it has come around again! It’s shaping up to be a very exciting season, with some new faces and new recruits on-board. On the netball front we are in office for the Mallee Netball Association this year. Congratulations to Lois O’Callaghan and Belinda O’Brien for taking on a shared Presidents role and to Bree Lacey and Charleigh Mewburn for stepping up as joint Secretaries of our own netball committee. We know you’ll all do a stellar job. We are very fortunate that most of our coaching staff have remained with us for another season. Tsharni Burns will resume as A Grade coach and Leanne Boyd will remain with the B Graders. Bec Morrish, with support from Jess Ryan will again be coaching C Grade, while Janine and Lauren McLean will be mentoring our Junior A and B girls. Megan Hastings and Charlotte Nixon will be working with the Junior C girls and Michelle Morrish rounds out the netball coaching team, again taking on Net-Set-Go girls. Thank you for stepping up into these positions. We had great success last year and I can only see things going through strength to strength this season.

On the football field, we have Andrew Jardine leading us from the front as Senior Coach, Dom Leach has resumed his role as Under 16’s coach and Fel Cua has stepped up to coach the Reserves with the help of Laurie Angwin.  Jason Scott has offered to mentor the Under 13’s and Peter Caldow has offered to tackle the Auskickers.

Off the field and behind the scene, the committee has been very busy prepping for the start of the season. We have also been busy emptying bunkers. Thank you to all involved in these processes. A lot of time and effort has already been put in before we step one foot onto the field or the court, and all of your assistance is greatly appreciated. We have also invested a lot of time into preparing for the North West Structual Review that AFL Country Vic is currently conducting. In late February, select committee members and I met with the panel to discuss the future direction for Ouyen United.

A draft for their recommendations for the entire North West of Country Footy will be released on April 30th with their final recommendations to be handed down on June 30th. More details will be provided in the near future.

Jarrod Munro, 2015 President.

OFF THE TRAINING TRACK

Firstly I’d like to thank Ouyen United for giving me the opportunity to coach the Senior group. It’s something that I have aspired to do and I am looking forward to the challenge.

2011 was the last time our Club experienced success at a Senior/Reserve level. Success comes down to what you want and what level of expectation you set for yourself and your team mates.

Sure we play footy to make mates and have a good time, but for me it’s about having success. You play to win, to be the best, to be a part of something special. My role is to get the best out of each of you, for you to be the best player you can be and in turn we maximise our team success.

Pre-season we have had a strong sense of commitment to the job at hand with great numbers attending training. It’s clear to me that the players are hungry for success. Make no mistake we know what we are up against. The year will be the strongest the MFL has ever been. The quality of players and standard of footy is going to improve.

We have the group to be successful, it’s now time to execute it and make it happen.

Good luck & go Dees.

Andy Jardine, 2015 Seniors Coach.

A WORD FROM THE A GRADE COACH

Hello and welcome to an exciting year on the court. After having four of five teams playing in the finals last year and three grand finalists, we are hoping to take that step further and bring home the big one in what may be the last year of the Mallee Netball Association.

Whilst we have lost a couple of key players, this provides a great chance for some of our young guns and others to step up and show the true United Spirit. I have been impressed with the girls putting ion a big preseason, and if the saying ‘you get what you give’ is anything to go by, players and supporters should be looking forward to a fantastic 2015.

United by name, United by game.

Tsharni Burns, 2015 A Grade Netball Coach.
