Round 3

Today we welcome Thorpdale to our nest and anticipate some hard fought contests played in true Anzac day spirit and wish everyone involved the best of luck. Last week we returned home from Mirboo Nth with only our seniors victorious in the Football and in the Netball our A, B, C & D grade sides winning their respective games.

Box's Seniors:

The road trip up to Mirboo North has never been a good one for any opposition and we knew Saturday was not going to be any different. The game started at break neck speed and the boys really took it up to the tigers. Reidy was doing a great job on Trail and with Cailey stepping up with 3 great goals in the 2nd qtr giving us the lead moving into half time. It was great to see us really finish the game off in the 2nd half. The tigers threw everything at us and at times we nearly let them back in, But to our credit it was really pleasing the way we ran the game out. Better players - Reidy, Eddie, Boof, Phil, Rich and Hoppy.

Giddo's Reserves:

We were disappointing last week, Mirboo Nth outplayed us and full credit to them, we never recovered from our poor start and need to bounce back today. Better players were John Pollutro, Shane Randall, Corey Celima, Nick Talerico, Troy Lock and Arthur Harrison.

Trev's Thirds:

The boys kicked off season 2009 at the weekend with a loss to Mirboo Nth. The team effort was great in patches, on ballers ran well all day a lot of players were played out of position due to the speed and class of Mirboo, also trying to clamp down on the odd player or two. Our boys were too happy to be second to the ball and not accountable in places. A lot of improving to be done over the coming weeks which I'm sure will start happening as the boys take on Thorpy at home this week. Numbers are very high this year and players have been told that its team policy to train 2 nights or miss out and it's equally as important to notify coaching staff or be prepared to miss also. 2 weeks for fees or no game time. Best: Danny M, J Swanson, S Tobin, J Blair, R Francis, B Clarke. Goals: Steve Tobin 6

Gav's Fourths:

The fourths played against a good side in Mirboo, but we are a good side as well. The only difference was Mirboo's application to the ball. We need to show the same application in getting first hands on the ball. Better players were Andy, Brandon & Shamus with Joel & Dylan Van Der Brand playing well in the backline.

International Power Netball News:

Last week we travelled up to Mirboo North and as expected all games were hard fought tough contests. Our under 15's & under 17's the only sides not to come away with the points in narrow defeats.
