Round 7

Today we have travelled out to Yinnar and look forward to some tough contests in all grades of football and netball. Last week at home against a determined Hill End we managed to win 3 games of football and 6 out of 6 in the netball.

Box’s Seniors:

With tough weather conditions to contend with for both teams the Hill Men definitely came to play and gave my boys a real old footy lesson in the 1st Qtr. The 2nd Qtr wasn’t any different the only thing was that we managed to win back the lead going into halftime. We managed to salvage the game with a better 2nd half and to give Hill End some credit they fought the game out right to the end. We did have some players that gave there bit on the day, Corey Celima in his 1st senior game for the year played a great game, supported well by Phil Pavey, Ryan "buckers" Buckley and Eddie Lithgow.

Giddo’s Reserves:

Disappointing last term resulted in a disappointing loss in our last home game against Hill End, we need to string 4 qtrs of consistent football together if we want to give ourselves a chance. Better players were Andrew Blair, Grant Greenwood, Roger Henry & Hughie Pepper.

Trev’s Thirds:

Our 3rd's got there first win notched up at the weekend against a very determined Hill End. The game was toughed out in colder wet conditions and it’s a credit to our boys coming from behind to snatch a victory in the dying minutes. This shows the team has started to gel and with a few more inclusions for this weeks Yinnar encounter the team can definitely take it right to them. Well done! Best. A. Hooton. D. Mathison. D.Evans. B.Fiddler.

Gav’s Fourths:

A great win for the boys, on a very windy day with scoring only happening at one end of the ground, they ran and supported each other all day, with every player contributing to the win. A great effort by the back line in keeping Hill End scoreless after quarter time. Better players were Joel Sutton, Luke VanDyke, Ash Cheesum, Brandon Francis and Luke Lawrey.

International Power Netball News:

15U: Morwell East 28 Defeated Hillend 17. B.O.C. Lowanna Hood. Nice controlled game of Netball with some great set plays happening.  Centre court players worked well around the ring enabling goalers to goal under the ring.

17U: Morwell East 28 Defeated Hillend 20. B.O.C. Tanarli Hood. Solid performance by all players against league ladder leaders Hillend. Game was played out well by both teams hungry for a win.

D Grade: Morwell East 47 Defeated Hillend 13.  B.O.C. Cassie Olver.  Once again our defensive end was exceptional, allowing our centre court players to bring the ball down with ease securing an easy win.

C Grade: Morwell East 41 Defeated Hillend 17.  B.O.C. Pam Hicks.    The girls are working well around and in the ring, giving the goalers the best opportunity to score.  Defensively, very well controlled and disciplined play.

B Grade: Morwell East 65 Defeated Hillend 26.  B.O.C. Taylin Gourley. A strong outfit, with everyone working hard defensively. Coming into goals, the best result is achieved by patient netball.  Good to be able to give Taylin a chance to play up.

A Grade: Morwell East 38 Defeated Hillend 28.  B.O.C. Dee Greenwood.  Once again a sluggish start, but able to get it together with an exceptional 2nd quarter, which gave us the buffer we needed against a well drilled side.
