Today we welcome Hill End to our nest at Ronald Reserve and wish everyone an enjoyable day of Mid Gippy Football & Netball. Last week at home against Yarragon we managed 7 wins from 7 games played, a terrific result for the club.
Box's Seniors:
Having won their last 3 games and sitting just below us on the ladder we knew Yarragon were going to be a big challenge. We had an excellent preparation during the week and the boys started the match that way. We got off to a flyer and with our commitment towards winning the ball we took in a handy lead at 1/4 time. The boys continued that in the 2nd term, and with our backline being rock solid and keeping the opposition goalless in the first half was a fantastic effort. The 3rd qtr led by Pavey (that's Phil) and Luke 'Hoppy' Hopman and with Mark 'Boof' Van Dyke marking and kicking straight gave us a great target up forward we continued to stay on top. We finished the game well and to win the way we did was a credit to all the players on the day. Pavey, Hopman, Van Dyke, Higgins and a great job by Darren Reid on Pavey (that's Anthony) were amongst our best.
Giddo's Reserves:
We played Yarragon at home last week and after a tight first half we managed to come away with a comfortable win in the end. Better players were Adam 'Dunks' Duncan, Robbie Semmler, Tony Martinac and Chris Murphy.
Trev's Thirds: No game last week due to a bye
Gav's Fourths: No game last week to to a bye
International Power Netball News:
15U: Morwell East 31 defeated Yarragon 23. Another hard fought battle by our young 15U brigade. This week our concentration and making the most out of our turnovers paid off. Sarah Greenwood earned herself best on court for a great display of shooting in the 3rd quarter to give us the lead going into the last quarter. A good win against a quality side. B.OC. Sarah Greenwood.
17U: Morwell East 47 Defeated Yarragon 11. The girls played out a tough 1st quarter but due to their skilful play and doggedness to the ball they ran away comfortable winners. Teagan Watson's efforts in goals were exceptional ably assisted by Elise Campbell. All in all a great team effort. B.O.C. Teagan Watson.
D grade: Morwell East 50 defeated Yarragon 7.The effort that the D grade girls put in at training is certainly paying off. Good team play with hardly any mistakes enables the girls to win their games comfortably. Exceptional work in defence by Alice Hughes, whose aerial skills are amazing, assisted by Michelle Noblett whose rebounding skills are such an asset, makes it hard for goalers to have a go. B.O.C. Michelle Noblett.
C grade: Morwell East 50 Defeated Yarragon 13. All girls played out an impressive win, with team changes the order of the day. A versatile side, which play as a team week in, week out. B.OC. team effort.
B grade: Morwell East 64 Defeated Yarragon 14. Great win, played in good spirit. Good to see the coach finally gave Kellie and Dani a go in goals. What's your excuse for one goal Kel! B.O.C. Dani Buglisi.
A grade: had the bye, even so, Kate French's work in Goals was exceptional. There were times when she clearly was the only one doing the work, her work at G.D. was beyond belief and without the work rate put in by Jenny Mills in the Centre we would have lost by a lot more than we did. B.O.C. Young Kate French, ably assisted by old Jenny Mills.
