Round 11

Today we are hosting Mirboo North for what promises to be great day. Good Luck to all teams.

Last week we travelled to George Bates Reserve at Yallourn North for a very cold day of football and netball. The day started with the news that Trevor Callow had passed away, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Box’s Seniors:          10 weeks is a real long time in footy and considering our first round result against the bombers, we knew that we had to be right on our game if were going to get the 4pts Saturday. The game was a real scrappy affair from the start and the boys did well to combat everything that YYN threw at them. We got off to a great start, held a good lead into every break and pulled away in the second half. Aaron Makepeace did a fantastic job on Burnett and he was well supported all day by Robbie Shelton, Eddie Lithgow, Richard Te Paa and Bruce Siddle.

Giddo’s Reserves:          Reserves had a great win against dangerous opposition. The way the boys applied pressure on the ball carrier when not in possession was a highlight, as well as the use of the handball when moving forward. With a couple of players to come into the side over the next couple of weeks there is a great opportunity for a top 3 finish.

Trev’s Thirds:     No game.

Gav’s Fourths:          The 4ths played well for 3 qtrs which was enough to win. We are still missing some players so everyone needs to play 4 good qtrs. Better players were Jordan Cook, Brandon Francis, Eric Semmler and Shamus Collier. Andy Maynard kicked 5 goals.

INTERNATIONAL POWER NETBALL NEWS

15U        ME 40 defeated YYN 10.     B.O.C.  Stephanie Campbell. The girls combined well today having a good win without two of their key players on board.  It was great to be able to slot Annie Zammitt in to help us out, Annie fitted in like a glove, good win girls.

17U        ME 49 defeated YYN 20.      B.O.C.  Taylor Brouns. A good win today with everybody giving their best, the 2nd quarter saw us secure the win with some excellent shooting.

D Grade         ME 62 defeated YYN 13.     B.O.C. Cassie Olver. Once again the girls had a convincing win. Thanks to Elise and Teagan for helping us out today.

C Grade        ME 61 defeated YYN 17.      B.O.C. Roxanne Shelton.  Well played, the girls are gaining in strength with each game, getting back some good form at last.

B Grade        ME 64 defeated YYN 44.      B.O.C. Debbie Barnes. Some great passages of play led to a convincing win by the B graders. It is great to have Deb in the team. Her experience is leading the way through the centre court.  She is such an asset up forward and it is evident at times that our young goalers look to Deb to steer them in the right direction

A Grade.        ME 65 defeated YYN 26.      B.O.C. Kristie Davidson. Another game played in good spirits. Thanks to Ellen who happened to have her name on the sheet as a emergency, and yes, we had a injury and she stood up well, playing with the big girls!

Thanks to Lexi and Ellen who are doing so well with their Umpiring. We at Morwell East are so lucky to have two young girls put themselves forward to have a go at Umpiring. They are our future, not only as strong netballers but as our Umpires as well. Well done girls.
