Today we are at Thorpdale for round 12. Good luck to all teams for their games today.

Last week we hosted Mirboo Nth, and had good wins in the Seniors, Reserves and Fourths, & also took the points in the ‘A’, B’ and ‘D’ in the netball.

Box’s Seniors:      A lot was being said about this game on the weekend and it was great to see both teams throwing everything at it right from the start. I was extremely happy on the way the guys withstood the tigers and the way we worked as a team to keep us in front all day. The tigers threw everything at us in the 2nd half and we were able to carry our good form and answer each time Mirboo scored. Very hard to pick best players, Rob Shelton, Eddie Lithgow, Aaron Makepeace, Luke Hopman & Richard Te Paa did great jobs all day!

Giddo’s Reserves:     A fantastic team effort for 4 quarters. Stood up well under extreme pressure and could have won by more if not for our inaccurate kicking.

Trev’s Thirds:      The boys tried hard and played disciplined footy, just couldn’t quite keep it up for 4 qtrs. Better players: Danny Matheson, Bobby Anderson, Shannon Maynard, Brad Clark, Brandon Francis and Ryan Francis. Goals: 1 each to Guy Gibson, Nathan Scott and Steve Tobin.

Gavin’s Fourths:     Finally we have claimed a win against a side above us on the ladder, this should give the boys great confidence for the rest off the season. We stuck to the game plan and played good rebound footy, our midfield led by Brandon Francis and Eric Semmler was fabulous. Our secret weapon Hayden Lawson-Pepper was great on the wing. Other better players were Tony Helmuth, Blake Mills and Stuart Pirimona. Dylan Roulston in a eye catching performance kicked 5 goals.

INTERNATIONAL POWER NETBALL NEWS

15U Morwell East 18 Lost to Mirboo Nth 30.   B.O.C. Sarah Greenwood. The girls played a much improved game than the last time we played them; this was to be expected as we have worked hard at training to be more competitive against them at Saturday’s encounter. However, a bit disappointing in that a 100% wasn't given by some of the players. This will be rectified at training.

17U Morwell East 33 Lost to Mirboo Nth 38.   B.O.C. Gemma Wilson. An entertaining game with some great passages of play. The girls worked hard in defence all the way up the court, but just didn't have a classy Mirboo North’s measure.

D Grade Morwell East 52 Def Mirboo Nth 32.   B.O.C. Caitlin Buckley. Our first win for the day, saw us easily account for Mirboo North. Some great defensive work by Michelle and Alice, who combine so well together stopped any forward movement of Mirboo North.  Of course the ever reliable Taylin was outstanding in goals, assisted by great passing from our forward court.

C Grade. Morwell East 26 Lost to Mirboo Nth 30.   B.O.C. Sue Ellen O'Donnell. Another loss against a very experienced side.  The challenge is now ahead of us, and I personally am looking forward to it.  Bite the bullet girls, and lets go for it.

B Grade. Morwell East 42 Def Mirboo North 34.   B.O.C. Debbie Barnes. Very skilful game put in by both teams. Defensively and offensively both ends had to work hard to win the ball.  When the ball was won through dominant work through the centre our girls in goals finished it off. Well done, everyone played an excellent team game.

A Grade. Morwell East 50 Def Mirboo Nth 38.   B.O.C. Lauren Gill.  A slow start saw us make some unwarranted errors, but once the game progressed it flowed the way we wanted it to.  Credit to Dee and Amanda in getting the girls together at training.  Credit to the girls for making it work.
