Today we have travelled up to Hill End and look forward to their hospitality. Good luck to everyone involved.
Last week at Yarragon our reserves were the only winners in the football with our seniors going down in a close one and our netballers winning all 5 games played in the Netball. Well done East a terrific effort.
Box’s Seniors: We travelled to Yarragon knowing full well that we were not going to meet the same side we met in our Round 1 encounter. Our preparation during the week reflected our performance on the day and Yarragon came to play where we were left wondering. The game was tight all day with less than a kick between both teams each break. Having nearly stolen the game late in the last qtr only a freakish goal at the death cost us the 4 points. Now as a group we need to learn from this a hit back hard with a win today against Hill End. Better players – A. Makepeace, E.Lithgow, D.Tatterson & R.Hobbin
Giddo’s Reserves: Terrific percentage boosting win at Yarragon last week. To come out after half time and kick 17 goals while holding the opposition to nil is a great sign of what this side is capable of. Better players were Mark Lawrence, Taylor Wood, Robbie Semmler, Kevin Hays, John Pollutro and the veteran Grant Greenwood.
Trev’s Thirds: No game last week due to a bye.
Gavin’s Fourths: No game last week due to a bye.
INTERNATIONAL POWER NETBALL NEWS
15U: Morwell East 34 defeated Yarragon 17. B.O.C. Sophie Kennedy. A much better effort this time around saw us easily defeat Yarragon. We struggled first time with their strong goalers and defence. This time we were much better controlled, and every player having a job to do and done it well. Good game girls, well done.
17U: Morwell East 49 defeated Yarragon 12. B.O.C. Team effort. Great game girls, starting to play some good netball. Goalers put in some strong quarters, percentages were up, all over a great team effort.
D grade: Morwell East 64 defeated Yarragon 21. B.O.C. Caitlin Buckley. Excellent game with some strong passages of play throughout the game. Thanks to our 17U girls for filling in today.
C grade: Morwell East 35 defeated Yarragon 21. B.O.C. Nerrida Robinson. First half was touch and go, with some good netball displayed by both sides. Our defense worked solid for the next two quarters, that combined with some good goaling helped us win comfortably in the end.
B grade: Morwell East 55 defeated Yarragon 22. B.O.C. Team effort. Entertaining game especially in the 3rd quarter when I think the coach had a touch of sun stroke, putting herself in goals. She did manage some good goals and the team had a comfortable win in a competitive game.
A grade: had the bye.
Don't forget Chocolate money girls, well overdue so could we have that in a.s.a.p.
And on the domestic front, congratulations to Alice and Hughie on the arrival of their baby son Xavier. Well done and best wishes to you both from all the netballers.
