Today we welcome Yinnar to Ronald Reserve and look forward to some tough contests in both the football and netball. Good luck to everyone involved.
Last week we returned from Hill End with our seniors and thirds both winning their games in the football and our netballers winning 5 games out of 6 games played, our U17’s the only ones not to take home the points in a close one.
Box’s Seniors: After a disappointing loss the week b4 the guys were keen to get back on the winners list on Saturday. We had a great week on the track and with thanks to Russell Northe taking us on Thursday night gave us the right preparation to take on the Hillmen. We started the game really well and kept Hillend goalless for a half of football. With the sting gone out of the game we maintained the good lead we had for the rest of the game and came away with a solid 15 goal win. Well done to Luke Pavey finding some form kicking 6 (straight he tells me!), Phil, Makey & Crackers (Chris Risely) all played well. Congrats to Crackers on his 1st senior game with the club. We hope there is many more to come. Today we have Tatto breaking the club record which has stood for many years. A sensational effort Tatto, your dedication to this football club on & off the field is unbelievable and you deserve all the accolades you will receive today. I hope the boys can give you the win today to make it a more memorable day for you!
Giddo’s Reserves: Disappointing game from our reserves. Better players were Mark Lawrence, Jamie Riseley, Grant Greenwood and John Pollutro.
Trev’s Thirds: Boys had a very competitive game against Hillend at the weekend. Team was told that we were happy to receive the points only for what was an outstanding first half of football. Have to remember that footys the game and not to be easily misled, it's an easy turning point as you's seen. Have to work on getting to training as the race to finals heats up, Don’t let it slip fellas you's have put too much in to it .Good work. Best. A. Hooton. B. Francis. D. Mathison. R. Francis. J. Bowe. B. Clarke. Goals. B. Clarke 3. D. Mathison 2. S. Winmar 2. S. Tobin 1.
Gavin’s Fourths: Better players Dylan VanDer Brand, Tyler Scott, Brandon Francis, Braydon Darby-Lock and Shamus Collier. Goal Kicked Anthony Mobourne.
INTERNATIONAL POWER NETBALL NEWS
15U: Morwell East 38 Defeated Hillend 22. B.O.C. Tayla Watson. A great team effort today saw us come away with a comfortable win against a very competitive side. Our goalers are playing very well, combining with our wings to make an excellent forward line. Of course our ever reliable defense continues to do their job admirably.
17U: Morwell East 28 Lost to Hillend 34. B.O.C. Hayley Jergens. A disappointing loss maybe, but a great last quarter saw us narrow the score line considerably. Great to see the girls continued to hold their heads up even though they were undermanned.
D grade: Morwell East 45 defeated Hillend 15. B.O.C. Brooke Mills. Another good win by our D graders, enabled us to have another fun game, sharing the positions around. Good to see Michelle has been practicing her goaling.
C grade: Morwell East 41 defeated Hillend 24. B.O.C. Kirbie Knowles. A very competitive game enabled us to play some good netball against quality opposition. Tight defense against tall timber helped the girls secure a solid win.
B grade: Morwell East 62 defeated Hillend 23. B.O.C. Claire Lawrence. Great game to watch, with some skilful passages of play by both sides. Excellent goaling saw us come away with an easy win in the end.
A grade: Morwell East 43 defeated Hillend 28. B.O.C. Kate French. A very close game most of the time saw the coach biting her nails for most of the first half. Great defense by Amanda and Kate helped the girls come home with a well deserved win.
Happy 25th birthday today to Lauren and Kellie. Best wishes from all the girls.
