Today we have travelled up to Thorpdale for a day of Mid Gippy Qualifying Final action, let’s hope the weather is as good as the contests we can expect, good luck to everyone involved on and off the field & court.
Last week at home against Trafalgar our Seniors and Thirds were our only winners in the Football and in the netball our U 17’s, C , B and A grade sides all recorded wins, with D grade fighting out a draw.
From the Pres ... Well done to all teams that have made it to the finals with only the fourths missing out, it is already another successful year .Good Luck to our Thirds, Reserves and U/15&17 netballers Today.
Box’s Seniors: A fair bit was at stake on the weekend and we knew that we needed to be at our best to beat an in form Traf team. We prepared well during the week and we carried that through to the game. We didn’t start well, but we really hit our straps from qtr time and we recorded a gutsy 49pt win. Well done to all involved on the day, but our hard work is only just beginning. Better players, Harls, Makey, Crofty, Luke & Phil Pavey. Walks 4 goals. All the best to the Netball & football teams competing in finals today and in the coming weeks.
Giddo’s Reserves: Traf is always a tough encounter and last week’s loss proved to be the case. We need to play a solid 4 qtrs of team football starting Today!
Trev’s Thirds: Terrific win last week against Trafalgar, it was a great team effort from the boys. Congratulations on making the finals fellas, let’s try and keep the good form going into today’s game.
Gavin’s Fourths: The boys put in a valiant effort to get back into the finals just falling short in the last quarter .Its been an up and down year but the fourths have been a well behaved and great bunch of boys to coach. Better players were Tyler Scott, Ash Cheesum, Jordan Cook and Brandon Francis. Good luck to the thirds Today.
INTERNATIONAL POWER NETBALL NEWS
15U: Trafalgar 25 Defeated Morwell East 23. B.O.C. Team Effort. A great first half with everybody swinging along, but something happened in the second half that left us struggling to play as a team and not focusing on the task at hand. Credit to Traf on a focused and committed second half. This loss should now bring us back down to earth with a thud and set us up for what should be an exciting finals campaign.
17U: Morwell East 66 Defeated Trafalgar 22. B.O.C. Hayley Jergens. A very polished display of Netball from our girls. They displayed determination and commitment to get the job done. Well done girls and lets try and carry this form into the finals.
D grade: Draw. Morwell East 42-Trafalgar 42. Tough game all of the four quarters with Traf getting ahead and us working hard to claw it back to savor a draw. It is evident that training and fitness will be a priority coming into the finals.
C grade: Morwell East 41 Defeated Trafalgar 22. A very controlled game, with everyone on the same page. Great work coming into goals enabling our goalers to have the best opportunity to goal successfully.
B grade: Morwell East 63 Defeated Trafalgar 24. A very nice game to watch and played in good spirits. A good win taking us into finals.
A grade: Morwell East 66 Defeated Trafalgar 34. A good win considering the game started getting out of hand in the 3rd quarter. Great to see our girls were still able to focus on the game and go into the last quarter, outscoring Traf 21 to 7.
