Tyabb Football Club Policies

Conduct Committee

A Conduct Committee has been created to oversee all on and off field behaviour, sportsmanship and attitudes of players, officials and supporters.

The Conduct Committee comprises the President, Secretary and Club Executives. The President will `chair` the committee. The Secretary will record minutes. Decisions will be by consensus.

The Conduct Committee will deal with instances of poor behaviour and sportsmanship, which undermine the standing of the club, as they see fit.

Members are bound by this Code whenever they represent Tyabb FC. This includes social gatherings, football trips and match day.

Any member in breach of this code of conduct will attend a meeting of the conduct committee. Findings will be recorded and presented to the General Committee and if necessary, to the Selection Committee.

CONDUCT

Tyabb is a proud and respected club in the MPNFL and the wider community. Persons representing the club as a player, official or supporter should conduct themselves in a manner committed to the reputation and ongoing success of the club. Any behavior deemed to be offensive, unsportsmanlike or inconsistent with the values of the club, will not be accepted.

This behaviour may include but is not limited to illegal activity, assault, intoxication, use or distribution of illegal drugs, racial vilification, abusive language and swearing, sexual misconduct, care for facilities and equipment.

The MPNFL provides clear direction on the code of acceptable conduct.

The field umpire must automatically order from the field any player reported by him. Players can be sent from the field for 15 minutes for uttering an audible obscenity. Players can also be ordered from the field

for the remainder of the match if it is considered that a 15-minute suspension is inappropriate.

In addition the umpire must report all melees. A melee is where an incident takes place, involving players pushing, scragging, jumping into packs, throwing each other to the ground, or similar conduct. In addition to players involved being reported the penalties for clubs found guilty are severe. Umpires award a penalty free kick against œthe next man in to be taken immediately to get the game moving. The second umpire is to break up and or report the melee whilst the first umpire controls the game.

MELEES

Players should look after the safety of their teammates during a game. However we do not support players entering into packs or melees to œfly the flag. The club can ask the MPNFL to investigate any issue from a game and we would prefer to pursue a complaint in this way.

We expect you to play "hard but fair".

WORK AROUND THE CLUB

Players are expected to assist the club by helping with our fund raising functions.

A roster of jobs will be prepared prior to the events. Players are responsible for swapping with another person if they are unable to fulfill their obligations on any given day. Players must notify the Committee Member responsible, of their intention to swap.

SOCIAL FUNCTIONS

All players are expected to attend all social functions.

SMOKE-FREE POLICY

To encourage a healthy lifestyle and comfortable surroundings, all functions, clubrooms and change rooms are SMOKE-FREE areas. Smoking is allowed outside the rooms. The Club™s no-smoking policy is displayed on the notice board in the change rooms and in the clubrooms.

RESPONSIBLE ALCOHOL MANAGEMENT POLICY

The Club will comply with Liquor Licensing Victoria regulations.
A copy will be displayed prominently in the `bar`.

The Club will provide a range of low or non-alcoholic drinks at all functions. Light beer will be priced cheaper than heavy strength alcohol. Water will be readily available. Alcohol will NOT be sold, served or consumed by minors. The responsible serving of alcohol will be adhered.

Club members and bar staff will encourage intoxicated patrons to take safe transport .

Any club member who is does not comply with this Code of Conduct will be deemed in breach of the code and will be called to give evidence before the Conduct Committee. Cases will be dealt with on an individual basis and may be referred to the conduct committee via the President or Secretary.

Non-compliance will result in discipline by the Conduct Committee. This may involve a financial penalty.

PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT

Training

Players are to attend all session with running and football gear, including mouth guard, regardless of injury or stiffness the player maybe feeling. If a player is unable to make training he must call the coaching staff before 5.30pm, text messages not acceptable.

The 3 People that players can notify are: Mat Hose, Dean Underwood, Glen Shannon.

If a player needs to leave the track during training he must advise coaching staff before leaving.

Training can be tailored to accommodate most injuries (ie: calf injury = bench press, etc) therefore once again there are no excuses for not attending.

Selection Night

All playing and coaching staff are required to stay back until 8.30pm. Awards from the previous week will be made on Thursday evenings. Teams will be announced at 8.15pm.

Game Day

Reserves:

 10.30 am
 Arrival
 11.00 am
 Strapping Completed / Team Meeting
 11.30 am
 Players Ready

Senior players are expected to be at the ground at these times so they are able to view the start of the Reserves at the least. Seniors should see how individual reserve players play in case they come into the seniors. If possible view U/18 games through out the year.  Reserve players should be at the ground by 1/4 time of the U/18™s at the least.

If a player is late to a game, team meeting or getting strapped the leadership group will deal with your actions. It will result in fines, punishment or missing selection.

Players are to attend every game in club attire.

Any player who cannot make the meeting on time must call to advise.

If a player is benched, he will not argue with the decision at the time, if he is not told he may ask why. If he is not happy with the decision he is encouraged to seek coaching staff after the game, not while the game is going.

If players have problems with the way things are occurring they are encouraged to speak their mind with the coaching staff or leadership group only. Do not build up frustrations and take it out on the wrong people or let it affect your own game. Complaining to other players and not speaking to the coaching staff is not going to get problems solved for anyone.

Players are not to argue with umpires decisions, they never have and never will change their mind no matter how much or how good you argue. Accept it and move on.

Players are not to argue on the field with team mates. Looks ordinary and gives opposition a lift.

Football is a team game and rules and plans must be followed. There is no room for individuals

After the game, warm down stretches must be performed by all players. If you do not do these stiffness will not be an excuse for not training.

ANY OF THESE POINTS NOT ADHERED TOO RISKS A PLAYER STARTING ON THE BENCH, BEING BENCHED, FINED MATCH PAYMENTS, TRAINING PENALTIES OR BEING DROPPED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE COACH AND LEADERSHIP GROUP

After Game

Senior group will be expected to participate in a round the ground clean up as a group warm down after home games.

Players are expected to stay at rooms until game talks are done, approximately starts at 5.45pm

All players are expected to attend social functions. There will be 6-8 socials during the season so it is not a big ask. All friends are welcome.

Players are requested to have at least one drink after the game at away grounds. We want opposition players and supporters to have a drink at our rooms so we should try to do the same.

Players are requested to tidy the area they are sitting in, in the change rooms. If you do not do it, it is left to our committee to clean up after you.
It is not hard to throw your tape in the bin and jumper on the pile.

Injury Management

If a player receives an injury during a game he must seek out a trainer to report the injury. This will be documented in the trainers log book. You are also required to advise the trainer post match if an injury has occurred (ie: Hamstring tightness which you discover come Sunday). If a players name is not logged in the injury book I assume they are good to train come training night therefore NO EXCUSES will be tolerated.

Alcohol

Injuries and Alcohol don'™t mix unless your drowning your sorrows because your out for the season! For example if you receive a severe corky (bleeding in the muscle) alcohol will only add fuel to the fire as it thins the blood meaning the muscle will bleed longer inhibiting recovery. Use yours brains - try to re-hydrate to some extent after a game before you lay into the grog.

If you have any queries positive or negative please feel free to come and see the coaching staff or leadership group at anytime. If we are not told about a problem, how can we fix it.
