History

Football appears to have been played in and around Deniliquin as early as the 1870s, but today's Deniliquin Football Club was born some six decades later, in 1933.  Entering the Echuca Football League, which was then in only its second season, the club embarked on a dream start which yielded three consecutive premierships.

After the war Deniliquin crossed to the somewhat stronger Murray Football League and, perhaps not surprisingly, took a few years to find its feet.  In 1952 the side contested its first grand final, going down to Finley in a replay by just 6 points.  The Rams won the first of their thirteen MFL flags in 1957 and have added at least one per decade since.  They have enjoyed two especially noteworthy eras: the 1970s, when they reached eight consecutive grand finals, winning four of them, and the four-in-a-row era from 2001 to 2004.
