Seniors
This week’s visit to league leaders Tocumwal was always going to be the hard day at the office scenario. Although we managed to easily have the ball on our side of the centre line at least half of the first quarter, we just couldn’t convince it to go through the big white sticks, going into the first break one goal to their three.
The game appeared to flow somewhat more in the second with the home side kicking six majors to our four. Three of these coming off big forward Dave Liddell’s left foot.
The third term, often referred to as the ‘premiership quarter’, was where Tocumwal showed to all person’s viewing why they are comfortably sitting at the top of the perch, kicking eight goals to our solitary one. The game went beyond the purples reach, however with the traditional never say die attitude, Nathalia narrowly outscored the home side nineteen points to eighteen in the last.
When looking for our award winners our stand out patch on the ground was definitely our centre line. Troy Snelson is right back at home on his wing, with his machine like workrate, I doubt there would be a blade of grass on Tocumwal’s oval that he did not step on. Ricky Barnes again fantastic with his ‘strong man’ efforts, as too Mitch Curtis, gaining possessions a plenty. Anthony Hill, Paul McCallum and Adam Quarrell performed many turnovers from the backline, the latter also enjoying some quality on ball time.
Final score: Tocumwal 20.12. 132 d Nathalia 9.7. 61
Goals: David Liddell 3; Troy Snelson 2; Bill Hutchison 2; Todd Hicks 1; Jarrod Maskell 1.

Reserves
Seven players out from our previous round and 3 pulled out before the game, which was always going to make it tough. Six Under 17 boys doubled up and played full games, thanks to Harley Cobbledick; Corey Hicks; Terry Kalaitzidis; Bobby Nicholls, Marcus Walsh and Jake Curtis, all played their part and is very much appreciated by the club. Andrew Liddell was “Carey” like at CHF, Johno Tamburro was in everything, Jason Bell continues his consistent year, Terry Kalaitzidis gathered possessions at will and Harley Cobbledick was like a springboard in defense.

Under 17’s
Our boys came up against Tocumwal this week and from the start it was a great contest. The backline was under extreme pressure for most of the day, when we link up we look very good, but it was our turn overs that cost us in the end. Great game from Bobby Nicholls who tried all day in the ruck. Corey Hicks, Marcus Walsh, Ilija Kolundzja never stopped trying and running.
Also great efforts from Jack Ryan and Malcolm Barnes.
Remember boys its the small things that win the game, talking, running, sheparding and backing up.

Under 14’s
A fantastic team effort enabled the boys to have a great win against Toc. The older boys shared the footy with the younger players and all made contributions to the game. Hayden Tyrrell played with strength around the ground, Kodi Hicks took countless marks and Dylan Bell popped up everywhere. We had a good avenue to goals through Bowen Smith, and Alex Hicks was terrific under the packs. Overall it was a great day and our first win at Toc for a few years.
