Seniors
In damp conditions underfoot and light rain threatening on and off the entire match, early goals would double in value by the days end. With both sides relentless in attack on the ball it was a case of only three scoring shots each by the end of the first quarter. Nathalia was able to gain better control with three unanswered goals in the second to go to the halftime break five to one and in a very comfortable condition. With only one goal each kicked by the two teams in the third quarter the Purps again showed dominance with three to one in the last. Ash Quinn kicked Nathalia’s final goal giving him the statistics of one goal for each of the quarters of the day. As with the change in weather so must come a different type of approach to the game. Big men Ross Garner, Brodie Ross and Jarrod Maskell all by a slighter flattening of the hands were still able to take some big pack marks. Ricky Barnes, Luke Quinn and Jake Butler were terrific in their desire of the ball and stopping many opposition players with the hard tackling. Mitch Curtis, Nathan Gemmill and Matt Elborough showed great foot skills in their accuracy of the heavy ball. Congratulations also to Sean Mortimer having his first game of senior football, gaining his share of possessions he appeared quite at home in the last game of the day. Overall a very good win to all players dressed in purple.

Reserves
The score did not reflect the effort the boys put in this week, with 8 players out of the side from the previous week. We called far and wide for players and had players that had not played for years.
The commitment to contest was super and with the boys throwing themselves into every contest we made it very hard for Echuca to break free.
Simon Quarrell led from the front with his best game for the year, Spanner Robinson again was great in the rck. Hayden Power built on his consistent year, Jason Bell repelled Echuca time and time again, Ash Dohnt put the fear of god into some of the Echuca players, all in all, coach was very proud of his players for an outstanding effort.
Final score: Echuca Utd 10.12 d. Nathalia 3.3
Goals: Matt Ratcliffe 2; Adam Smith 1.
Awards: Mug/Past Players: Simon Quarrell; Blake Street Butchery: Daniel Robinson; Middle Hotel: Hayden Power; Club: Jason Bell; Ash Dohnt.
Under 17’s
We faced Echuca United on a cold and wet day. Our first quarter was outstanding, we were linking up well and held them to a containable score. I was very impressed with some of our younger players, these being Joseph Nihill, Jake Curtis, Angus Armstrong, Stuart Sutton and Greg Boxall. Our skill levels are still letting us down but overall I thought it was a well fought out game.
