Saints keep season alive, with 95 point win, over Second placed Wyche/Narraport
The Saints set up their win with an eight goal to one first quarter and were never going to be headed from that point on. Coghlan finally found some form up forward kicking eight goals, and with Motlop dominating from the midfield the Saints were making every post a winner and by quarter time they had raced out to a 46-point lead.
The second quarter was all tied up with both sides kicking 3-2 for the term. Coatsworth and Bish tried everything in this quarter to lift the Demons but the Saints where determined to protect their lead and matched motors with the Demons at every contest. Organ was giving the Saints a second option up forward and finished the day with five goals. Going to the main break with their 46-point lead, the Saints confidence was up and the chance of playing finals was growing on the Saints faithful.
In the third quarter it was all St Arnaud as they carried on their first half form an posted another six goals and kept the Demons goalless in this term and by the end of the quarter an 81-point lead was their reward for a solid three quarters of football against a side who normally give a better shot than what they have to this point.
With 30-minutes of footy left, the Saints continued to do the hard work and shut down the Demons scoring opportunities, restricting them to one last quarter goal, this being the only goal the Demons had kicked in the last half. Motlop continued to show his class, McNamee was leading from the front and the rest of the Saints were doing their bit to build on their percentage that will come heavily into play, should the Saints record a win over Donald next week.
