U14 News - 8/8/08

We have had a busy couple of weeks lately, with the footy trip  were we went to the Sydney Hawthorn game, and a good time was had by all the boys. We had a good win against Panmure and played our best game for the season against Old Collegians for a win as well. We also had a good go last week at South Rovers, and hope to be very competative this week against Timboon who are on the top and very strong.

A couple of dates to remember is our Presentation night on Friday the 15th August bring along a casserole ( I have sent containers home with the boys) also BYO drink as this is an under age night the bar will not be open, this will start at 6:30pm.
Also Junior League Presentation is on Wednesday 13th August at the City Memorial at 6:30pm.

I would also like to thank all the parents that have helped out during the year with Goal umpiring, timekeeping & canteen also Ranga for being runner and John Smith for doing a great job as team manager.

Hope to see you all back at the club next year

U17 News -  19/7/08

The boys are playing great footy, and have a good chance of making the final 5 if they continue to train hard. Playing and training as a team is vital to the success of every team and the boys are doing a great job.

It is great to watch them improving each week, with several of our players showing that they have the ability to make it to the senior level in the coming years. Congratulations to Paddy Eldridge on his first senior game last week.

Thanks to everyone who attended the footy trip last Sunday. Their good behaviour made it a successful and enjoyable day out for everyone.

U12 News - 19/7/08

This week we welcome Russells Creek. But first of all some catching up on the last 3 weeks.

Round 12 Dennington: At home seems like a long time ago. The boys had a very comfortable win against some bigger bodies which was pleasing to see. Better players for the day were Connor Keane and James Neville. Well done boys.

Round 13 Panmure: The big challenge for all teams this year has been Panmure who, Im told, have not lost a game for two years. The boys trained well during the week. I could see that they were really thinking about the game ahead. After an even 1st quarter scores were pretty even, however Panmure played much better football in the middle quarters to hold a 14 point lead going into the last quarter. Kicking against a strong breeze I thought our boys were in a bit of trouble. The rest of the game is history. The boys somehow willed themselves to kick 3.3, and keep Panmure scoreless, to win by 7 points. A remarkable effort. These boys must be commended for their never say die attitude. A very proud moment for yours truly. Best Players: Team effort.

Round 14 Nirranda: Struggling for numbers Nirranda hosted us under lights Last Friday night. A cold and slippery night seen the boys all have fun and a good win. I must praise some of our boys for helping out Nirranda, Bronte Baker, Riley Dalton, The two Russell boys, Jake Hards, Isaac Martinovic, Daniel Hose and anyone else I missed. Best players Tim Sheeley, Tobias Lane and Justin Fedley

As this is our last game I would like to thank Gary Rowbottom, Glendon Dickinson, Peter & Wendy Delaney, John Sheeley, Ken Drake, David McCutcheon, Adam Ryan, Sam McCluggage and Ann Holloway for the help and support they have given me this year, it is much appreciated. Thankyou.

Our Season finishes next week with a round robin, details to which I dont have as yet, keep you posted when I know more. Our presentation night is on 25th July next Friday night 6pm start. I would like to see you all there to support the boys.

I have had a great time this year coaching the boys. I hope they think the same. They were very disciplined throughout the year.

Well done Lads on what has been an outstanding performance on and off the field.

Thanks again,
Warren

We welcomed South Rovers last weekend who were a couple of players short.  Ben Osbourne and Keith Russell filled in for them which was fantastic, well done boys.

After a very lack lustre start into a stong breeze the boys played better footy in the last 3 quarters to record another win, well done.  The mid field players gave me a bit more after being asked.  Justin Fedley, Tom Mahoney etc.

This week we take on Dennington.  Hope to see you there.  Go Cats.

After a few dissapointing weeks the boys got a much needed confidence boost after a huge win last week against Deakin.
We also welcomed the long awaited return of Aaron Smith who kicked 5 of our goals during that game.

We finally have a full team with no injuries that combined with some consistent team work, we are striving to have a more successful 2nd half of the 2008 season.

Best players were Kieran Delaney, Liam Drake, and Tom Mahoney.  Huey McCluggage won $5 from Gary Rowbottom. Unfortunately Huey broke his arm this week, lets hope he gets better soon.

The U17s are going along nicely and have played some excellent footy.  We were placed well on the ladder before letting two games slip away that were oursfor the taking.  The Kolora - Noorat game and the Old Collegians game have been costly losses and prooves that if we play as individuals and not as a team we dont achieve the results we a re capable of.

Having limited numbers and hence not enough people for a full bench also tests us and a huge thankyou to the U14 boys helping us out.  They have done themselves proud and have stood up to the challenge of playing at the next level.

The next two weeks are vital games if we want to be in the mix come round 18.  Get to training and lets show everyone what good footy we are capable of as a team.  Go Cats.

The boys keep going on their merry way (six in a row), not that we a re counting, but the boys like to see the rewards for their efforts.  At Old Collegians last week the boys did seem a bit off the boil but managed to get over the line with a great 2nd half.

We played Merrivale under lights on a Friday night.  Merrivale officials offered us the option of using the scoreboard, which I accepted.  I would like to thank Merrival for this opportunity.  I beleve it is important the boys learn to win and lose graciously.

After a very even 1st half the boys kicked away in the 2nd to record a good win.  Well done to Dylan McCutheon, Jobi Baker, Corey Muller, and Justin Fedley.  This group of boys must be commended for their willingness to listen to  me and Rowy.

This week we take on South Rovers.  The lads love to see their parents watching so come over and have a look they will appreciate it.

Till next time, see ya at the footy.

Our Under 14 1/2 boys are in for a tough game today, but with a bit of confidence gained from our close game last week at East Warrnambool, where we only got done by 2 points we plan to put up a good fight. The boys put in a huge effort  last week to come back after a slow start to the game with only 2 pts on the board at half time to Easts 3 goals & 5 pts.

D'Arcy Lane was moved to ruck & did a great job,  freeing  up his brother and Captain Blake Lane to play on the ball . The team went on to kick 3 goals & 3pts and kept East to a 1 pt quarter.Great Team effort boys keep up the hard work.

Our U12s kicked off the season last week and were fantastic against a much bigger bodied Russells Creek.  Their endevour and willingness to stick to the game plan was more than commendable.

As a first time coach of a serious game I now realise I might need to be a bit more organisedwith bech movements so pleas bare with me.  Some of our better players were Huey McCluggaage who did a fantastic job on Ben McLeod.  Corey Muller also rucked well al day.  brady Croft had a good game, clearing the back line on several occasions.  Other notables were Riley Dalton, Justin Fedley, Dylan McCutheon, and Bronte Baker.
