Building on the back of a promising 2009 season, The Leongatha Football club had no shortage of applicants for their vacant under 18's and reserves positions. After what would have been a harrowing selection process for the coaching selection sub-committee, two new coaches were appointed to these posititions for the 2010 season.
Highly regarded and successful Alberton interleague and Wonthaggi junior coach Glenn Sullivan has joined the ranks of the parrots as thirds coach brining with him an enviable CV. Having coached some Wonthaggi junior sides to premierships in recent years, Sullivan has also coached the Alberton under 16 Interleague side for the past four years with that side having only lost one game during his tenure. The exciting aspect of this for parrot supporters is that some of the players in those successful Alberton sides are expected at Leongatha for the upcoming season.
Club legend and last year's Melbourne based coach, Billy Clarke will be coaching the reserves side this year in a massive coup for the parrots. Clarke's experience of 208 senior games, 1 best and fairest, 2 years senior coach of Fish Creek and four years as property and welfare manager at AFL club Richmond will bring a boundless wealth of information and support to all the coaches next year.
Pre-season training commences on Monday 9th November and will be run every Monday and Wednesday night at the football club until the second week of December. All players are welcome!

Playing assistant coach Brad Rayson capped a great career at Leongatha, for the time being, by winning his first best and fairest to go with his runner up trophy last lear. He won the award from a fast finishing Adam Govers by a solitary vote.
The local lad, who's football has taken him to vice captaincy roles at VFL team Coburg as well as premierships and media awards for Warratahs in the NTFL, has increased his standing at his home club by adding to his CV at the parrots, to go with his 2001 premiership medallion he attained as an 18 year old.
After 2 years in the assistant coaches position, Brad and wife Jess are returning to Darwin to settle there for an extended period, but Brad did mentrion during his acceptance speech that they'll be back at some stage.
Runner up Govers is also travelling up for a season in the NTFL with Warratahs but will be back to continue playing for the parrots in the 2010 season.
After improving the ladder position of the senior side every year he's been in charge, Adrian Campbell accepted the offer of extending his coaching career at Leongatha to a record fourth year.
This signifies a great reward for the former Footscray, Melbourne and Parrot's full forward who said during his speech at this year's end of season awards ceremony," I came here for one year after fininshing up at Melbourne to see how it would go. This now will make it my 13th year involved at the club which hopefully sginifies how much the place means to me."
Not in all the current players lifetimes has there been a coach that has led Leongatha for such a continuous tenure. Justification to the current coaching staff that the committee and the local community believe they're on the right path.
Dwayne Holt and Adam Govers capped off great personal years to be named in the team of the year for the newly named Gippsland Football League.
Govers sensational last half of the year was rewarded as he was named in the back pocket and first year recruit Holt picked himself at full forward by topping the goal kicking, becoming the first Leongatha player to do so since current coach Adrian Campbell before the turn of the century.
Tom Dowd showed his consistency as a noted vote getter by putting in great performances through the midfield this year and only coming two votes short of the Trood and Rodda medal, that was shared by Sale's Adrian Cox and Traralgon's Michael Geary.
Others to poll well in the count from the parrots were Govers & Holt, Justin Sutherland, Brad Rayson, Paul Fawcett, Rhett McLennan and Hayden Browne.
