Millicent footballers and netballers do well in medal counts

Millicent footballers and netballers polled well in the Western Border football and netball medal counts which were held at Casterton Town Hall last Sunday, September 19.

Donna Denton and Andrew Nitschke were the outstanding individual performers on the day.

Donna won the WBNA A Grade best & fairest award for the sixth time (she previously won it in 1994 / 2000 / 2003 / 2008 / 2010) and she also won the Most Consistent player award (polling in 13 out of a possible 14 games); Andrew won the WBFL Reserves best & fairest award to go with his three A Grade (1997 / 2001 /2003), Under 18 (1991) and Under 12 (1985) medals; Paula Tunkin was runner-up in the WBNA A Reserve best & fairest award; and Bronte Grosser was runner-up in the WBFL Reserves best & fairest award.

Millicent also had club success when it won the WBNA Most Disciplined Club Award.

 

In the A Grade Netball voting Millicent players received the following votes - Donna Denton 36, Audine Bryant 24, Hayley Dunn 11, Elise Reilly 10, Tamara Haggett 2 and Lisa Duldig 1.

The leading vote-getters were Donna Denton (Mill) 34, Lauren Hockley (Port) 26, Audine Bryant (Mill) 22, Kahli Rolton (West) 18, Alycia Bryan (North) 12, Chantelle Weir (South) and Amanda Huf (Ham) 11.

In the A Reserve Netball voting Millicent players received the following votes - Paula Tunkin 27, Kylie Grosser 10, Sarah Pretty 6, Alex Walker 4, Lynette Shanks 3, Lucy Walker 1 and Paula Wishart 1.

The leading vote-getters were Trictia Cleary (Cast) 29, Paula Tunkin (Mill) 27, Ellen Zeunert (Port) 19, Melissa Ryan (West) 17, Kristill TeKawai (Ham) 15, Cathryn Walder (Port) 15 and Rachel Wilson (West) 15.

In the B Grade Netball voting Millicent players received the following votes - Carol Grimes 20, Kaitlyn Murphy 18, Jess Bowman 17, Justine Brown         5, Kylie Grosser                3, Bronwyn Turner 3, Casey Hutchesson               2 and Peta Haines 1.

The leading vote-getters were Larissa Norman (North) 28, Jenna Domburg (Port) 22, Carol Grimes (Mill) 20, Kaitlyn Murphy (Mill) 18 and Sally Povey (West) 18.

In the C Grade Netball voting Millicent players received the following votes - Ann Sharp 12, Megan Tilley 5, Angela Tarrant 2 and Bek Tilley 1.

The leading vote-getters were Wendy Falconer (Port) 26, Deanne Stratman (West) 21, Deanne Watson (West) 21, Taylah Guthrie (Cast) 19 and Renee Wathan (Imps) 18.

In the 17 & Under Netball voting Millicent players received the following votes - Tanaya Redman              13, Melinda Squire 9 and Pippin Ellis 7.

The leading vote-getters were Meg Gazzard (North) 25, Malinda Markiewicz (East) 24, Shanae Guthrie (Cast) 22, Laura Ferguson (Imps) 21 and Emily Stafford (West) 17.

In the 15 & Under Netball voting Millicent players received the following votes - Alex Walker 20, Lucy Walker 11, Alice Bowering 3, Zoe Brown 3, Emily Rayner 3, Sally Houlihan 1 and Sarah Madden 1.

The leading vote-getters were Emily Gazzard (South) 25, Danika Jolley (North) 24, Tori Perry (Cast) 24, Alex Walker (Mill) 20 and Amber Hood (North) 20.

In the 13 & Under Netball voting Millicent players received the following votes - Keah Lynch 17, Bonnie Cory 16, Tiara Hales 7, Sophie Ferguson 6, Madi Turner 4 and Alana Craig 1.

The leading vote-getters were Tennille Gray (East) 30, Emily Pietsch (North) 29, Tayla Falconer (Port) 23, Georgia Hunter (West) 20 and Olivia Dukalskis (South) 19.

The Under 21 top vote-getter award was won by Chantelle Weir (South) with 11 votes.

The Most Consistent award was won by Donna Denton (Mill) who polled in 13 out of 14 games played.

The Champion Club award was won by Portland whose teams averaged 47.14 points across the 7 grades.

The Most Disciplined Club award was won by Millicent with a score of 99.09% (1090 out of a possible 1100 points).

The DonateLife SA Volunteer of the Year award was won by Di Gould (South).

 

In the A Grade Football voting Millicent players received the following votes – Justin Rehn 9, Jonathon Agnew 9, Nat Robbins                8, Michael Bennett 7, Steve Duldig 4, Cameron Haggett                4, Brad Tilley 3, Tom Hutchesson 3, Ryan Hutchesson 2 and Joe Walker 1.

The leading vote-getters were Richard O’Grady (North) 14, Gareth Crawford (Ham) 14, Josh Woodall (North) 13, Simon Berkefeld (South) 13, Josh Ranson (West) 11 and Matt Newell (Imps) 11.

In the Reserves Football voting Millicent players received the following votes - Andrew Nitschke              19, Bronte Grosser 14, Justin Meek                6, Chris Denton                6, Darius Milera 4, David Dunn 4, Heath Douglas 3, Geoff Rigney               3, Doug Lang 3, Tim Milera 2, Jeremy Hales 2, Craig Thomson 2 and Matt Bryant 1.

The leading vote-getters were Andrew Nitschke (Mill) 19, Bronte Grosser (Mill) 14, Dean Jenkinson (Imps) 13, Garth Willoughby (North) 13 and Brad Creek (East) 12.

In the Under 18 Football voting Millicent players received the following votes - Mason Redman 5, Ben Chant 3, Mitch Reilly 3 and Brad Smith 1.

The leading vote-getters were Jacob Galpin (Cast) 18, Tyson Currie (North) 13, Jordan Murphy (Imps) 13, Blake Lynch (East) 12 and Brody Fishwick (Ham) 11.
