The KFC Horsham Diggers

Horsham United Football and Netball Club Inc was founded in 1945 after World War Two by our returned servicemen. They called the club, The Diggers Football Club and played in the Horsham District Football League. The name was later changed to Imperials, winning several premierships in the 50s and 60s. In the early 70s the club combined with Wonwondah FC to become Imperials Wonwondah and won the premiership in 1980.

In 1983 the club joined the Wimmera Football League under coach Phil Bunn and finished sixth the first year. At the end of 1985 the club changed its name to Horsham United but our nickname was still the Tigers which we had since the 70s. In 1988 with Phil Bunn still as coach, we won our first and only senior WFL premiership by seven points over Warracknabeal. Bunn kicked 10 goals in the grand final which is still a WFL record. We were runners up in 1994 and 1995 against Warracknabeal and Stawell respectively. In the late 90s we honoured our founders by reverting back to the Horsham United Diggers.
