Recently retired ruckman Steve Edgerton holds the WFL record for the most senior games played (420 senior games and 15 reserves). Edgerton played 112 gaes with Minyip, including a premiership win before joining the Diggers. He also represented the Wimmera three times.
Mal Adams finished his career at the Diggers in 200 after about 15 years at our club. He won a record five best and fairest awards and is one of the classiest and most respected players to ever play in the league. Adams represented the league 19 times.
1988 premiership coach Phil Bunn's record 10 goals in the grand final remains as the single greatest achievement by an indivual in a Wimmera Football League grand final. Bunn's last goal was kicked in the last minute of the game to seal a seven-point victory.
Proving his incredible coaching talents, Bunn coached the Murray Bushrangers from bottom of the ladder to a TAC Cup premiership in his first season with the club in 2008.
Chris Friend played in our 1988 premiership side and has played in three reserves premierships since playing a record 398 games for the club and is not necessarily finished. Both his sons Joshua and Timothy have played in junior and reserve premierships for United as well.
In 2005 Brad Miller celebrated his 21st birthday by kicking a new league record 22 goals in a single game against Nhill. The previous record was 20 and was set in 1930.
Brad kicked only 2 goals in the first quarter but came home with 9, 6 and 5 for the 22. The team’s score for the game was just 27 goals.
