The Reserves welcomed Aaron Daly, Paul Wallis and Peter Wandmaker replacing Brendan Leary, Grant Miller and Sam Woollard. With a full complement of players after waiting for Under Eighteens Jake Steyger and Bart Wallace to arrive after their game at Yarra Glen the Reserves challenged eighth place Wandin hoping that they could post their first win for the season. The home side had the advantage of the breeze and kicked the first two goals but Alexandra steadied and battled out the remainder of the first quarter adding a goal on the siren. Wandin knowing how to play their small ground much better soon extended their lead despite the efforts of Dan Crane and Hayden Nichol in defence, Shenton Clarke the Rebels only goal kicker for the second quarter. The last half was mostly dominated by the home side players who were a little fitter than the visitors, the Alexandra guys never gave up trying and were hampered by injuries to key forwards. The high lights of the last half were Jake Steyger’s and Andrew Wood’s goals along with the efforts of Aaron Daly, Justin Leary and Tom Dunell. Best players were Chris Wallis, Hayden Nichol, Daniel Crane and Peter Wandmaker. Goal kickers were Andrew Wood 2 and Shenton Clarke 2 each, Aaron Daly and Jake Steyger one each. Awards: Shamrock Hotel meal – Andrew Wood, Mt.Pleasant Hotel meal – Shenton Clarke, Commercial Hotel meal – Chris Wallis, Commercial Hotel stubbies – Peter Wandmaker. Special mention to Brian Heard who will play his 200th game for the Club and we all wish him the best of luck.
