Shaun Connell

Shaun's football career began in 1988, when his family returned to live in Melbourne. He began playing with the Jordanville Jets, in the U/14's side, and continued with them until his family moved to Cockatoo in 1991. His VCE studies interrupted his football playing, then in 1993, Shaun was asked to help out with the coaching of the Gembrook Juniors U/10's team. He went on to coach the U/12's, U/14's, and also coached DRJFL Interleague U/12's in 1997. The same year he began playing senior cricket at Gembrook, and also joined the reserves football team at the senior club.

Through his involvement with both clubs, Shaun first became a member of the junior club committee, and then the senior club committee. He was appointed Football Manager of the senior club in 1997, a position he held for three years.

In 1999, Shaun single handedly set up the Gembrook Cockatoo Senior Football Club's first web site.

In 2000, Shaun coached the Reserves side to their first ever Premiership win.

But Shaun's future was in administration, and at the end of 2000 he was appointed as Assistant Football Manager at the YVMDFL, and was also the DRJFL Football Manager. He also set up the YVMDFL web site.

In 2002, Shaun was employed by the VCFL as a Field Officer, which involves a lot of travel around country Victoria advising affiliate Leagues and clubs. He also handles the planning and staging of the U/18's Country Championships. In November 2002, he was promoted to the position of Operations Manager with the VCFL.
