The Guernseys

The earliest team photo (1907) depicts what is either a black or dark blue jumper with a high neck and long sleeves. One player is wearing a lace up jerkin. The players are mostly wearing past the knee pants and dark socks.

During the years when a rival Cockatoo team existed (1920s), locals remember their jumper as red with a white.

The early 1900s Gembrook jumper was a lace up jerkin, probably dark blue, with a light sash. The MDFA in 1921 records our jumper as being purple and gold.

Prior to WW11, the jumper was a black & white vertical stripe, similar to Belgraves. When the MDFA reformed after the 2nd world war, this jumper clash resulted in Gembrook adopting a plain green guernsey; the white monogram being added after a few seasons.
