The netball girls were taking on Mount Evelyn who are a highly rated side but in their last outing in 2008 our girls took the honours which ended up costing their opposition top spot. The game got off to a tight start, the teams going goal for goal initially until Mount Evelyn managed to grab a slight lead and take control of the game. At quarter time it was 12 goals to 7 in the visitors favour. Silvan tried hard in the second quarter and again scored 7 goals but couldn't stop Mount Evelyn's strong attack who shot another 12 in a mirror image to the first quarter. With just 7 girls playing this week it began taking its toll as Mount Evelyn started to stretch their and with no bench the Silvan side looked tired. Despite their best efforts Silvan had no answers for Mount Evelyn as the third quarter saw a 14 to 5 scoreline in their favour. The Silvan girls did manage to slightly restrict their opposition's scoring in the final term, keeping them to 9 however our attack only registered the 2 goals. Not a great start for them but they are sure to improve over the next few weeks and hopefully they can score a win next week against Gembrook. Final Scores: Mount Evelyn 47 Defeated Silvan 21 Goals: Bianca Stockley 16, Tracey Ellis 5. Best Players: Kelly Nicol, Kate Brooks, Bianca Stockley, Tracey Ellis. To all our supporters and members please come along and show your support to the girls at every match. With no under 18's this year it would be a major boost for the netball side if more people could get their early to watch the games. Their games start at 11.25 so hopefully we can see a good crowd in attendance this week and beyond.
