Christmas Party Luncheon 2012
Christmas Party Luncheon at the Bay
By Betty Polson
Thursday 6th December, saw 113 lady bowlers, end the year of 2012 with our usual Christmas Luncheon at the Bay Sports Club. However, following morning bowls then our delicious lunch it was soon obvious that this was going to be a lot of fun.
Shirley Stanford surprised us all by organising the entertainment with Shirley Temple (Emily Hamill) and Marilyn Munroe (Val Freeburn) providing us with song and dance and looking extremely delightful in costumes originally made by Shirley. Almost as soon as the 'stars' hit the dance floor the cameras started clicking. Most enjoyable.
Further surprises were in store having been organised by the Committee. Father Christmas (John Huckstep), and his helpers 'Elf' (Sue Ryan) and Mrs. Santa (Nancy Truran), arrived with his bell alerting everyone, and then he went from table to table giving everyone a Chrissie present. Santa did a great job and was a real hit with many ladies wanting to have their picture taken with him. I think if we had had a Santa Chair many would have been eager to sit on his lap as the littlies do!
22 hampers were put together by Vice President Rema Cremen with donations of goods brought in over many weeks by our bowlers towards this Raffle. And the hampers were very generously filled with a very wide variety of goodies.
Winners were:Veronica Kan, Marilyn Keene, Betty Polson, Jackie Holland (2), Joan Ford, Margaret Lemming, Rhonda Taylor, Pat Massey, Cheryl Butler, Pat Latta, Lois Masterson, Marion Cummins, Betty Forbes, Gloria Schofield, Margaret Bakon, Lyn Thornton, Lorna Wales, Liz Cohen, I Beard, Marie Joice, Cori Hayes.
To end the day, hands were joined on the floor and at the tables to join in singing The More We Are Together a bowler’s song and some Christmas songs.
President Liz thanked everyone for coming and wished everyone a Very Happy, Safe Christmas.
