Proposed Norwood Sporting Club Development
Today, March 25, 2013 at 1.30pm, Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty, along with State Member for Warrandyte and Minister for Environment & Climate Change - Minister for Youth Affairs Ryan Smith, Mayor Cr Nora Lamont and Maroondah City Council CEO Frank Dixon gathered at Mullum Reserve to formally announce the final portion of funding for the Norwood Sporting Club redevelopment project.
Numerous Norwood sponsors, members and partners, along with members of U3A, a new user group for the facility gathered to hear the $1.6m project is now official and will begin at the end of the 2013 football season.
At the announcement, Mr Delahunty praised the commitment & dedication of Ryan Smith and Nora Lamont in getting this project off the ground and now approved. Mark Etherington on behalf of the Norwood Sporting Club reiterated that thanks to both Ryan and Nora and the commitment of the many councillors and council staff who prepared and submitted the application. He also praised the efforts of all involved including the Bendigo Bank and both the football and cricket clubs, "This is a community facility that has been over ten years in the making. It's very pleasing that it will now become a reality".
