Swans soar for National squad
With 7 players nominated, the Ottawa Swans Australian Football Club was well represented this past weekend at the 49th Parallel Cup held in Dublin, Ohio. The annual international friendly competition saw four matches take place over the course of the day, pitting the Canadian Northwind (men) and Northern Lights (women) squads against the US Revolution and Freedom sides.
From the Lady Swans, rookies Emma Dickinson, Brier Dodge, Catherine Geci, Holly Costanza, Ricki-Lee Pitman and Lisa Dalla Rosa all proudly pulled on the jumper for the Northern Lights, while third-year player Jay Goldhawk served as the lone Ottawa representative for the Northwind team.
Playing alongside their compatriots from across the country, the Swans were tireless competitors and superbly represented Ottawa and the country. A special mention as well to club stalwart, Charles Bernard who served as "Mr. Everything" for each of the games throughout the weekend.
The Club congrats you all on this momentous occassion. Good on ya!
GO SWANS!
