Tamworth FC in Finals Football!!

Tamworth FC has had an impressive season with all competitive teams in Finals Football over the next few weeks. Tamworth FC has its Under 14's, Under 16's (Minor Semi exit), Open Womens, Local 1st Grade (Minor Semi exit), and Premier League Reserve and First Grade through to the Finals in their respective competitions.

Tamworth FC Under 14's were defeated in the Grand Final by South Lightning Farrer, 3-2 in a penalty shootout after the match was dead-locked at 1-1. The Under 14's were leading the match until the final minute of normal time, but were unlucky to concede. Tamworth FC Under 14's fought gallantly but came up just short missing 3 of their 5 penalties.

Tamworth FC Open Women's bounced back from their shock Major Semi Final loss to win the Grand Final 2-1 against Kootingal Kougarettes. Tamworth FC Open Women have now won the first two season's of the Women's competition, while also taking out this seasons Minor Premiership.

Tamworth FC Premier League Reserve Grade played South Armidale on Saturday 15th September in Armidale in the Preliminary Final. Premier League Reserve Grade were very unlucky to go down 1 nil, after dominating the majority of the match, but just unable to score the goals needed to win the match. Reserve Grade finish the season with their first Minor Premiership and Golden Boot to striker Kurt Barrow.

Tamworth FC Premier League First Grade played Demon Knights in the Preliminary Final on Saturday 15th September in Armidale. Premier League First Grade beat Demon Knights 3-2 in an extra time thriller, in a very impressive display of character, coming from behind twice. Midfielder Tim Smith scored a double and centre back Damien Puyenbroek scored the extra time winner. Tamworth FC Premier League First Grade now plays local rivals OVA Mushies on Saturday 22nd September at Scully Park, Tamworth, with kick off at 3pm.
