U13 Girls

Match Report: U/13 Girls North East Diamonds vs Rivers FC

By Hannah Ahmad

After a bit of a slow start and a dangerous attack we got into our rhythm and made some vital attacking moves through the wings and centre, with some ending in goals.

We passed the ball around well and switched the play numerous times which caught Rivers unaware. We mostly looked for the 100% ball including playing it back to Alyssa (Goalkeeper.)

We didn’t crowd very much and encouraged each other to take on players, both of which wasn’t as strong in last weeks’ game. Everything we did at training was put into practice beautifully and all the things said in the changing room by the girls and Rick (Coach) was also executed well.

All in all I think the girls did exceptionally well and played very good football. Great Job Girls! :D

Final Score: North East Diamonds 6 - Rivers FC Nil

PS:  Happy Birthday Rick from all the girls !

Match Report: U/13 Girls North East Diamonds vs Greater Geelong Galaxy

By Zoe Houghton

The forth round started with a windy 10am kick off against the fifth on the ladder Greater Geelong Galaxy.

We started off apprehensively, but gradually gained more confidence as the game progressed. Geelong had a strong defense which meant we had to work the ball around looking for options to come forward.

Clara crossed the ball beautifully to Irene, who scored the first goal of the game. We made sure we continued our lead throughout the first half.

After some refreshing watermelon and a pep talk from our captain Mikayla, we made our way onto the pitch looking forward to the second half.

In the second half we made sure we stayed high and wide and concentrated on staying onside as Geelong was good at pushing their defense forward and forcing us offside. We improved in the second half and will be cautious in future games.

Half way through the second half Sarah scored the teams second goal. The team was a little relieved because Geelong was taking a few shots but our amazing goal keeper (Alyssa) saved each and every one of them. Later into the half Nela scored our third and final goal for the game.

The whistle blew to signal the end of the game. To honour Remembrance Day, everyone stood around the center circle for one minute silence to show our respect for the soldiers who died and fought in the wars past and present.

Overall I think the girls played a fantastic match and deserved to win. Great job!

Final score: North East Diamonds 3 - Greater Geelong Galaxy Nil

Match Report: U/13 Girls North East Diamonds vs Gippsland Knights

Today it was a slow start, but we maintained lots of possesion. We moved the ball around exceptionally well, in our groups {midfiled, defender etc} we made goals for this match and everyone worked really hard to achieve them which I, and the rest of the team think we did.

Going into half time the scores were still 0-0 which was a nail biter. We caught out Gippsland quite a few times, in the end we did some great attacking numerous times thats when, roughly 10 minutes later we scored a goal, from corner which was nicely done. Thats when the girls picked up the intensity and started playing our game. About 5-10 minutes later we scored again!!!.

Although it was a tough game, through rain, sun and light drizzle we seemed to pull through really well. We maintained our shape, played back to Alyssa (the keeper), and 95% of the time we played the 100% ball.

I think everyone played and put in all they had!!! Awesome stuff girls!!! :)

Final score: North East Diamonds 2 and Gippsland Knights nil.

Match Report: U/13 Girls North East Diamonds vs Eastern FC

By Niamh Kearney

We all went to Jubilee Park to play against Eastern. The fact that the Ringwood rubbish tip was on fire and the smokey atmosphere, might have meant that it took us a while to fire up. We started off with the ball gaining possesion. Straight away the midfielders did some incredible through balls and we scored.

With Eastern having possesion they take some great attacking moves and powerfully push the ball up the field 1-1. The defenders and midfielders passing the 100% ball and taking the ball up the field with an amazing cross from the wide attacking players we score 2-1.

Eastern have some great attacking moves but can't get past our goalie,we hit the lines and play up the field losing the ball sometimes and regaining possesion. We score another goal with a through ball from our midfielders 3-1.

We go on after half time feeling pumped and ready. At the start of the half Eastern play the ball up the field but with our strong defenders passing back to the goalie and setting up in their position, we hit the lines.

We score 2 more goals as we are involving everyone in the play 5-1. Eastern pull one back 5-2.We score another well earned goal with the midfielders supporting our attackers 6-2. With our defenders and midfielders pushing up, involving everyone in the play and with some fast running and touches we score a further 3 goals 9-2. An incredible job done to all the defenders who rarely let the ball past them.

Thank you to Nela and Sarah for taking on the role of goalkeeper for the day and at such short notice.
Well done you are fantastic and showed great sportsmanship!

Thank you to our train ons Paige and Kate you were awesome!
