One step closer to training lights at Village Park
The City of Greater Geelong has adopted its Master Plan for Village Park. The club has been successful in influencing the priorities of the plan as they relate to our club. The key win was the elevation of training lights in the priority listing from low (explore the introduction of lights) to medium (implement lights). In addition the master plan recommends:
- improvement of the playing surface on the second field, a full-size pitch and one permanent goal (the other to be inserted seasonally)
- additional changing rooms
- additional natural shade/shelter near the clubrooms
The Master Plan is a guide for future council investment at the venue. None of the above will be introduced unless Council allocates budget for the works via the annual budget process which takes place between Feb and June each year. The is more work for the club to do to advocate for improved facilities and to explore other funding opportunities.
