I am very proud of the effort our under 10 boys have put in this year.

They have trained hard, and have developed a lot of skill over the year and have become a real team.  Improving their passing dramatically and this was also noted by the opposing team coaches. Many coaches had made comments throughout the season, all saying these boys really play as a team.

There has been some magnificent individual performance as well.

William Brennan - stoic Last defender.  Never complains about the position I have put him in.  Held the backline together on many occasions, he also has the ability to score many goals.  Future Socceroo – if his Dad lets him.  Nominated as Player of the year 2012

Miku Takahashi – influenced many games by his skill and dazzling dribbling runs.  What a star.  Memorable quote during a game “scoring goals, that`s easy”  Awarded Team Manager's Award 2012

Marc Aloisio – led the team into battle and developed into a great team leader. I am glad he is on our team. Great year of soccer.  Favourite saying during a game – “Ref I did not touch him”  Awarded Coach's Award 2012.

Alex McGregor – very hard worker on the field.  Amazing runs up the ring wing from defence.  Every team needs a player like Alex.  Will be a Socceroo.  Awarded Team Manager's Award 2012

Thomas Picton – I have seen him develop so much in the last 3 years.  Quick, skilful and has the ability to play defence and attack.  Very versatile player, great effort this year.

Dante DiCandia – quickest player on the team.  Natural athlete.  Great defender, saved the day for our team on many occasions.  Never seen a kid play soccer with a bigger smile on his face.  It is obvious he enjoys soccer as he puts in 100% during training and during a game.  Great effort.  Nominated as Sports Person of the Year 2012

Joshua Farrugia – under 10 corner kick taker.  Has a lovely left foot and scored some lovely goals with that foot.  Scored 2 goals with his right, great to see.  Improved his confidence during the year and was very willing to dribble past a player.  Most common expression after the game – “Oh my hamstrings”

Joshua Parisot – an important member of the team and usually plays in defence.  Reliable and confident as a fullback.  Most memorable moment, playing goalkeeper and see him sitting down in goals because he was bored.  He said he was sitting down because the defenders were doing such a great job he had nothing to do.

Lachlan Thain – 1 direction look – a – like.  Small but fierce.  Never backs down from a tackle.  Scored 2 lovely goals. Usually played defence but on a few occasions went up forward and influenced the game.  Well done.  Nominated as Most Improved Player 2012

Matthew Girdler – has developed from a Last defender to a Midfield during the year.  Played a number of times as striker and came so close, on so many occasions to score.  Definitely has lots of potential.  Growing in confidence every year.  Good job.

Harry Turvey – dynamic duo member 1.  First season playing soccer. Missed the pre-season but quickly developed skill and become a valued member of the team.  Obvious this kid loves a battle.  I think I heard him say 15 words for the whole season.  I wish all the kids were this quiet.  He is a comfortable in the midfield and with another season under his belt will become a goal scorer.  Fantastic effort for the first season of soccer, keep up the good work. Great to see.

Charlie Turvey – dynamic duo member 2.   First season playing soccer. Missed the pre-season like his older brother but also developed quickly.  Seems confident going for a tackle against older boys and did not back down at all during the games.  Charlie will develop more skills with another season under his belt.  Fantastic effort for the first season of soccer, keep up the good work. Great to see.

All the best for the off-season.

Regards Ben Farrugia – under 10 coach Watsonia Heights Junior Soccer club.
