Highlights
One of Coach Nicola’s main highlights was seeing the enjoyment the girls got from being at training, playing and working alongside each other and also the leadership development within the group – those girls who had played before (only 5) really leading by example.
Other highlights were:
- beating Box Hill 2-1 at home and Yarra jets 1-0 at home – two of the better teams in the competition;
- the overnight trip to Monbulk mid-season;
- seeing girls progress over the season, with every girl having at least one really good game performance.
Thank you
To all the players for their commitment and dedication to the team.
To each player for taking their two turns in goal
To all the parents for their continued support at the games, as well as training. Teresa, Loi and Anthony helped with training the girls throughout the season. Wes Gibson took the coaching reigns on a number of occasions where Coach Nicola couldn’t make it. Ray and Andrew who ran line regularly. Fiona Gibson was always willing to assist Denise.
To Denise McSweeney who did an excellent job managing the team and there’s no way the season would have run so smoothly without her there to keep it all ticking over.
And of course thank you to Coach Nicola Vincent in her first year at Kensington. Nic was the perfect coach for this group of girls... Her knowledge and passion for the game really came through in the way she went out about coaching and planning for the games. She was very aware of the individual personalities, strengths and weaknesses of the girls and factored this in on game day. She has been a great asset to our growing club - it would be great to get her back next year and some of her Melbourne Uni team mates!
