FAQ

What does my registration fee entitle me to?

The registration fee covers such items as FFV registration and insurance, uniform and equipment levy and other expenses associated with the operation of the club. It also allows you to use the club facilities on training nights or match days & gives you free entry to all Box Hill Senior home games.

When do fees have to be paid by?

We require at least 50% of the total player fee payable to be paid on confirmation of your child's selection in a team. We will not be accepting registrations without payment. Then, unless other arrangements have been made, all player fees need to be paid in full before February 28th 2011. Players who have not paid in full will not be permitted to play.

What do I need to provide when registering my child?

When a child is registered with Box Hill you must fill in a player registration form. If the child is about to play in the FFV competition for Box Hill for the first time or has transferred from another club you must provide proof of age (see below) and a passport sized photograph. Team managers will provide all necessary paperwork to players once the selection trials are completed.

Do I need to provide a birth certificate?

Children who are playing in the FFV junior competition for the first time will need to provide a copy of their birth certificate. This is not optional. If the birth certificate has not been provided we will not be registering the child to play.

Do I need a transfer form if I come from a different club?

Transfer forms are not required for junior players. If a new player comes to Box Hill we will need to be told which club, if any, the player last played at. This will enable us to then transfer the player from that club to Box Hill. Transfers are treated as new registrations so the same documentation is required (registration form, passport size photo, proof of age (copy of birth certificate). Note that proof of age is required for all players new to the club. As a courtesy, we would ask that you inform the other club of your intent to transfer the player.

How are players selected for a team?

All players at Box Hill are graded according to ability. The trial / selection process usually takes 4 weeks to complete, however this may vary from team to team and is ultimately at the coaches discretion. The objective of the selection process is to ensure that all players are placed in teams where they will be best suited for their development and enjoyment of the game.

Juniors

Junior players compete in age groups U12 to U18. The FFV junior competition is a competitive (as the name suggests) environment. Scores are kept, results are tallied and league ladders exist.

We believe that it is essential for children to participate in a competitive League structure with players of similar ability. So we have a policy of age group grading for age levels with more than one team. The aim of this exercise is to try and identify players who should be given the opportunity to move to a team more suited to his or her skill level.

Coaches for the respective age group will grade the players. Ultimately there will be an offer made to identified players. Those players and their parents should carefully consider the offer and why the offer is being made.

Coaches have been asked to consider attitude, application, time with the Club and whether or not children are playing in their correct age group.

NB: Equal game time is not guaranteed for any player and the amount of game time given is totally at the discretion of the coach. Starting line-up will depend on individual effort at training and performance during the season.

Refunds

The club will only consider a refund if a player is asked to leave the team. Players who transfer to another club or decide to leave the club at their own discretion are not entitled to any refund.

Disputes

Any disputes at team level need to be raised in the first instance with the Team Manager. If an acceptable resolution is not provided, the next step is to speak with the Director of Coaching, who if necessary, will elevate the issue to the committee for final resolution.

At no point should a parent raise a concern directly with the coach unless invited to do so. Coaches are not to be approached before or after matches.

NB: SSF parents should raise any concerns directly with the SSF Co-Ordinators.
