Weekly Results 2014

Weekend Results 13th / 14th September

Well done to all Chelsea teams who finished up for the year on the weekend. We hope you had a great FUN year.

There were many great stories amongst all the teams to report - whether it was the Under 16 Girls Red team who, while they didn't get the win they needed to finish 2nd on their table, did manage to become the only team for the whole year to keep a clean sheet against their opposition South Springvale. Whether it was the Under 12 Girls team who finished top of the table in their joeys league or the Under 9 Blues who also started out as joeys and tested themselves by jumping up a league to Wallabies level - only to keep on winning and finish the year undefeated. Or perhaps the Under 12 Blues team who finished 2nd in their league at Kangaroos level or the Under 12 Boys Joeys who likewise finished 2nd of the league.

Or maybe the good news was in the junior leagues where ladder positions aren't kept but where the Under 9 Kangaroos dominated all year - or where the Under 9 Warlocks and Under 10 Sharks developed enough to advance up a league during the year and managed to hold their own while doing so. Or maybe it was the Under 11 Blues who struggled and fought hard all year and managed to finish up with a massive win at home which not only held their biggest score for but also their first clean sheet of the year.

These are only a few stories that could be told but we want to find out more, so why not leave a comment on our Facebook page and tell us your team name and what amazing things happened for them during the year.

Weekend Results 6th / 7th September

With most of the senior teams having the weekend off it was left to the Under 16 Girls Red team to lead the way with yet another great win to jump to 2nd on the table - a fitting reward for a great team effort throughout the entire year - this weekend's match for them is a top of the table 1 v 2 match against Springvale who have only lost one match for the whole year, but the way the girls have finished the year off it's a guaranteed win for sure! ;)

Two Under 12 teams that deserve a mention are the Boys Red and Boys Joeys teams who are both finishing the year off very strongly and had great wins at home over the weekend - much respect to Tass' Under 12 Boys Red team who turned the tables (and results) on their opposition with some brilliant runs from defence that were impossible to stop and topped off by great skill in front of goals on a full size seniors pitch - a real joy to watch. Dave's Under 12 Boys team also had another great win putting 6 in the back of the net to push them to 2nd on the ladder. Well done to both teams!

Senior Women 2-0 win
Under 18 Boys 0-2 loss

So the season is nearly over - can you believe it? - good luck to all teams who play their last match this weekend, many thanks to all those that have already played their last match and we will see you all in a couple of weeks to celebrate a great year with presentation day at the club rooms!

Weekend Results 23rd / 24th August

Our Senior Women's team were beaten on the weekend by the best team in their division but put up a very tough fight. Ladder leaders Warrigal have beaten some teams by 6-10 goals but found the going a bit tougher against Chelsea.
The Under 16 Girls Red team jump to 2nd on the table after another strong win - they have not been beaten since early to mid July and are heading home with a wet sail - well done team!
Once again the Under 12 girls have a huge win and are set to finish the year comfortably at the top of their division.
With the exception of the Senior Women's team and Masters team everyone else will be enjoying a weekend off so make the most of it...

This week's feature team match report is for the unbeaten Under 9 Blues - a team who first started in the joeys league but was winning by way too many goals each week so decided to step up to the wallabies league - and just keep on winning and winning...
Chelsea Blues returned home this morning against the visiting Casey Comets. We played on a wide pitch, kicking east in the first half. After Chelsea Blues had most of the play in the opening ten minutes without quite converting, Kyan scored our first goal. Ryan was again a standout, with his combative work through the midfield, and Zac went close to scoring on several occasions, including hitting the bar and going just over it. Dinal impressed with nice passing and there were good headers by Damian and Zac and a close shave for the Casey Comets, when Kyan narrowly missed a mid-range shot at goal. In the second half Zac swapped with William in defence and played the role of sweeper whenever the Comets managed to cross the midfield. Nick got boot to ball just as Casey threatened to strike and Ryan, who returned from a week's absence, again shone in his new role in defence. Matteo was untroubled for the entire match and quickly rebounded whenever the ball reached his domain. William was involved in numerous passages of play but scoring again proved elusive in the early stages of the second half. After multiple forays without reward in the first ten minutes of the second half, Zac drifted forward and pounced on a misdirected pass ten metres out from Casey's goal, putting Chelsea 2-nil up. Kyan followed up with a lovely cross to Finn, who put the ball into the back of the net. In the final stages of the game Callum demonstrated his flair with a terrific run from backward of centre, breaking clear and delivering a powerful shot which was almost saved by the lunging Comet's keeper, but bounced through to end proceedings at 4-nil, keeping the Chelsea Blues' winning run intact.

Weekend Results 16th / 17th August

This week's feature team / match report is the Under 11 Girls who have been working hard as a team every week this year and continue to improve right to the end of the season. Well done girls and well done (and many thanks) coach for all your dedication.

What a victory!
This week we played Skye on a bright sunny morning. Play was dominated by our Chelsea  girls from the start with everyone on the team playing at their best.  Unfortunately we were missing Brooke, Anna and Maddison - so all the girls played a full game. We also had a stand in coach - John Mitchell - who did a great job in Matt’s absence.
The first 5 minutes saw multiple tries for a goal by Laura, Eryn, Lulu and Alyssa.  The play stayed mostly in our goal half of the field, with our defence & midfielders - Keira, Ellie, Siorcha and Tanami never letting the ball down the field far.  We had Lulu, with her signature strong kick having some long runs down the field.  Keira, Ellie, Siorcha and Eryn were all over the ball - showing great foot work and passing. The first half ended with no goals, thanks to some great goal keeping by Skye, but our girls were playing a winning game.
The second half began with a goal by Eryn - her first for the season.  This was the turning point of the game.  Alyssa kicked in the next goal, also her first ever goal, making it 2-0.  This was followed by a goal from Siorcha running down the wing. Then Alyssa scored again and Eryn a few minutes later - making the score 5-0.  Tanami had a long run down the field and a shot at goal - unfortunately just missing. Laura and Lulu both had multiple kicks at goal - never giving up.
Our fearless goal keeper Amy did not have a lot of work to do today - but she was there every time we needed her and never let a ball come close to goal!
The game ended with a 5-0 victory and lots of very happy smiles from the girls, parents and grandparents.
This was our best game yet - keep up the brilliant work girls!

This week's junior team in focus is the Under 10 Sharks - a team who started their year as Joeys but have only recently moved up to Wallabies level. After a couple of weeks of drawn matches they put their win on the board - all due to the coaches bribery and corruption it would seem! ;) The Sharks have been getting a different parent to write the match report each week and there have been some great ones coming through. Enjoy:

It was a cold and windy August morning with the ground particularly heavy underfoot but Coach Gary was hoping for fireworks on the pitch. With a few incentives up for grabs in the form of a bag of mini-Mars Bars, he was looking to reward the boys for showing off the skills they’d been practicing in training. And so The Sharks headed onto the pitch with a win and fancy footwork in mind.

The signs were good with The Sharks holding much of the possession in the opening minutes. It wasn’t long before Thomas A created a scoring opportunity, crossing to Brodie who slotted the ball into the bottom left hand corner with a left footed shot. 1-0 to The Sharks.
Ryan and Lachlan were soon pushing for more glory, both looking great on the right wing despite a very physical presence from The Berwick Boys. Will, perfectly placed to make an attempt on goal fell casualty to a bit of over-enthusiasm by the opposition. He fell to the ground with an elbow to the face but bravely stood up to continue play. Marshall stepped up to take the free kick but it was well-saved by the keeper. More great play with Will acting as provider for Ryan resulted in an off the line save by the busy Berwick defence.
At last the play drifted into the Shark’s half of the pitch with Elvis, in mid-field getting his first touch of the ball – and what a touch! With his mind very definitely on his reward he stepped over the ball in a nifty little fake move to knock it up towards his forwards. The crowd went wild as Elvis immediately gestured to Coach Gary that that he up for a chocolate treat!
With the boys salivating, Marshall was next up to prove his nifty footwork and claim his reward too. The first half was a persistent  barrage of attacking play from our boys in blue, with hard working Jordan all over the pitch, Connor looking to goal-poach and Brodie keen to increase his tally.
There was a great deal of skilful passing on display between the twins and Ryan who read each other so well on the right wing and between Jordan and Ben over on the left. Thomas A continued to worry the Berwick midfield to manufacture Chelsea chances.
Another free kick gave Marshall the opportunity to step up for a second time, this time giving the goalkeeper no chance – a fair way out from goal he had his spot picked out and executed it perfectly. 2-0.
As the clocked ticked towards half time Berwick came alive but Jordan, showing his versatility stepped in to help out our defence by clearing a ball off the goal-line.  Another attempt saw Lewis deny Berwick once more. A strong kick out from ‘our man with the safe hands’ sailed the ball over the heads of the Berwick defence and found Jordan and Lachlan who fed Brodie in front  of goal. Unfortunately for the blues it was saved again.
In the closing minutes of the first half Chelsea’s 3rd goal celebrations were short-lived. What looked like a nice goal by Jordan was judged to have snuck under the side-netting before finding the back of the goal. Half time score 2-0 Chocolate owed: Elvis (2), Marshall, Ben, Lachlan, Ryan and Conner.
The second half saw Lewis released from goal and ably replaced by Lachlan. It wasn’t long before Lewis was able to claim his chocolate with an impressive dance over the ball. Will was able to regularly find space up front and Thomas A continued his hard work and good form.
But Berwick were not ready to give up and forced The Sharks to prove that they can defend as well as attack. With Berwick on the attack Elvis used his head and his chest to defend his goal – Brodie decided to chip in with a fine defensive header of his own. Once Jordan pounced he was able to thread through to Will who more often than not found himself in an acre of space.
Goal 3 for The Sharks originated from Thomas A’s hard work. It was a fine example of teamwork. Brodie’s throw-in straight to Will who tapped onto Ryan resulted in a perfectly weighted chip to Jordan who claimed the goal. 3-0.
All credit to Berwick who badgered away and managed to somehow get the ball past what seemed like an impenetrable wall of Sharks to score in off the post. This only revved up The Sharks even more. A beautiful solo run from half way all the way up to a decent scoring position was tragically cut short with a trip, an awkward fall and an elbow in the ribs for Will who was most certainly in the wars today.
Another free kick to Chelsea in a promising position saw Lewis attempt to mimic Marshall’s first half goal but this time the Berwick goalie was up to the challenge.
An entertaining game with much fancy footwork showed just how much The Sharks are enjoying their football. An impressive 3-1 win – their first as Wallabies.

This week's feature team report is from the Under 11 Blues. This was an exciting match played on the side of a hill at a damp and muddy Mornington - so exciting in fact that the result was decided by the very last kick of the day. Their coach always bases his reports around the team as a unit rather than focusing on individual players as that is what he is trying to teach them more than anything this year - that great team play ALWAYS beats great individual play.

"Brilliant effort Chelsea Blues, you all contributed to an outstanding team effort today and we came away satisfied with a job well done" Coach Holland
Today our boys travelled to Dallas Brooks Park in Mornington to take on the Mornington SC Orange team on a windy and soggy pitch, which clearly did nothing to dent our enthusiasm for this contest. From the start of the game our Chelsea Blues were ready to play, even with the rain coming down for the first ten minutes or so.
In the early exchanges, some great end to end passing from both teams resulted in some fantastic chances at goal. Mornington SC went ahead by one and then two goals. However, instead of going into their shells, our Chelsea boys continued to work harder at keeping possession and running the opposition to spread them across the pitch. Our boys scored  a goal soon after and the scores stayed the same , as we missed a great chance to level the scores on half time, with a ball in from the right wing which came agonisingly close to being crossed in at the back post
As the second half commenced, our Chelsea boys went immediately in search of an equaliser, but got caught napping and Mornington broke on the counter to score a third goal. Our boys talked to each other, re-organised themselves and never stopped trying to kept to their task of running in lines to support each other. We moved the ball with skill and control through the middle of the ground before kicking it out to the left and back into the "Area of indecision". This resulted in our second goal, a stinging shot from distance which went straight past the opposition keeper. Then, as full time approached another great build up from the left saw the ball passed into the middle where one of our Chelsea boys was waiting to convert a final goal. An equaliser, right on full time.

I'm am just so proud of every player and the way you all never gave up today. It was another example of what each of you are capable of achieving as a team, when you play for each other and stick to executing the skills learnt in training.
A very special thank you this week, goes to Georgie Lewis (younger brother of Chelsea Blues player James), who filled in for our team as a "super sub" today. Georgie had already played for Chelsea U9's this morning, but offered to play being we were short two players through illness. He acquitted himself tremendously on the pitch and contributed to the wonderful overall result.
Thanks again to all parents and grandparents in attendance for the encouragement from the sidelines which is greatly appreciated by all the players and myself.

Weekend Results 26th / 27th July

This week we are featuring a match report from the Under 10 Dragons who ALWAYS provide brilliant match reports. Keep yours coming in and you might be next.

If their first encounter against the Centaurs in Round 3 was an indication of how far the Dragons had to go, this game was a measure of just how far they have come. Although they looked a bit loose and uncertain in the opening minutes, the kids in blue settled into the game soon enough. The Centaurs' first goal, one of three for the half, was always going in; this team is certainly not lacking in skill. Nothing shakes the Dragons from their purpose, though, and rather than be over-awed by their formidable opponents, the Chelsea players simply worked their way through the half, looking stronger with every passing minute. Gabe, Dan, Rhys and Bailey weathered the Brighton attack with the grim determination we have come to admire in them.  Dorian, fresh from a stint in Fiji, proved yet again just how much he has transformed as a player; his bravery and resilience frustrated the Centaur attackers, and earned him Man of the Match. Another great improver (and goal sneak!), Zac, showed some fancy footwork and good control of the ball when weaving around an opponent. When the time was right, Coach Luis stretched back the elastic band and pinged Mason and Cooper into attack to liven things up around our goals.
By the second half, the Dragons were as hot as the roast in Brian's slow cooker. Alec was on fire, and has added taking on defenders to his already impressive skill set. Super Sam didn't put a foot wrong; it's a brave (or foolish?) player who tries to take this kid on in a 1-1 contest. Lucas nestled comfortably into goals, and worked hard to keep Brighton's score sheet clear for the half, a tough ask for any team.

Many teams are sending in great match reports and some great photos each week, especially in the age groups from Under 11 down. After Sunday's nail-biting win by the Under 12 boys we thought we'd run their match report in full as it is a great one by the coach. Enjoy.

Round 11 - Chelsea vs Cardinia
This week’s match would see our Joeys under-manned again with some absent players leaving us without a bench – enter Under 11 Kangaroo stars Aaron, Andrei and Jordan! With some much needed get-up and go, along with the support of their parents.
The match started well with our Chelsea boys providing some great attacking play, using the width and some great passing too, but unable to find the back of the net and really not even causing the opposition goalie to make any saves. Cardinia with their first corner kick, crossed it in quite nicely to a timely header for the first goal of the match. A second goal to Cardinia shortly before half time as the result of a quick turn-around put the visitors up 2-0 at the half time break. Things not looking too good at this stage…
After some stern words at half time relating to putting in better efforts and some cross goal shooting, our boys didn’t let the score line shy them away from an all-out attack lead by Will with some great forward possession play that resulted in 2 fairly quick goals from Chelsea (Aaron and Joel linking up really well) to put the opposition on the back foot.
Our defence is becoming stronger each week – Vikrant putting his body on the line, Luke becoming ever more dependable and with Will and Ben overlapping, we are looking great. With some improved communication, we could really be a force to be reckoned with. Chelsea holds on and wins 3-2 in a great comeback effort from all involved and probably our best 2nd half of the season!! Great game guys and thanks again to our Under 11s for their super skills and positive playing style.

Lessons Learnt;
Never give up!
Shoot across goal (automatically, without a second thought).
Throw-ins are very important and can win (or lose) the game for us.
If they are bigger – we be tougher!
Learn to play like Aaron does – be in a hurry!

Weekend Results 28th / 29th June

After a very sad week at Chelsea FC with the passing of Kolya our Senior women's team played Pakenham Soccer club at home. Both team respectfully stood together for 1 minute before their game. Our Chelsea girls went on to have several shots on goals in the first half to only lead 1-0 in a very water logged ground. The Chelsea girls came out at half time to continue to dominate the possession of the ball to score their second goal - this goal opened the flood gates with domination by Francesca who played exceptionally well in the attacking midfield position to feed the ball with 100% accuracy to our key striker Beth where she shut the gate on Pakenham. Final score Chelsea 5 defeated Pakenham 0. RIP Kolya.
The Under 16 Girls Red team had a great 1-1 draw against ladder leaders Springvale and were unlucky not to come away with the win considering the amount of possession they had throughout the match.

Senior Women 5-0 win
Senior Men 2-1 win
Reserves Men 2-2 draw
Under 18 Boys 1-3 loss
Under 16 Girls Red 1-1 draw
Under 16 Girls Blue washout

Under 14 Boys 1-6 loss
Under 13 Boys 0-0 draw
Under 12 Girls 8-0 win
Under 12 Boys Blue 3-1 v Under 12 Boys Red
Under 12 Joeys washout

The Under 11 Blues put in a huge performance down at Ballam Park. Finding themselves in front for the first time all year at half time they were put to the test in the second half having to kick into a gale force wind and try and hold the opposition out - there were some tense moments very late but they refused to give in and were rewarded with their first win of the year!

The Under 10 girls team had a comprehensive 9-1 win - despite being 4 players down the girls played an incredible game in terrible conditions. To their credit and with the many parents looking on they perservered and came away with a great win.

The Under 10 Sharks had another convincing win and now prepare themselves to move up to the Wallabies league for the rest of the year...

Weekend Results 21st / 22nd June

A mixed bag of results on a weekend where the senior men and senior women both came away with a win. The top of the table Under 12 Boys match ended in a draw and the Under 12 Girls continued on their winning streak. Well done to the Under 14 Boys who came through with a win also to reward themselves for their continual hard work.

Under 12 Girls 3-0 win
Under 12 Boys Blue 1-1 draw
Under 12 Boys Red 1-2 loss
Under 12 Joeys 4-1 win

The Under 11 Kangaroos came away with a well played draw and only time beat them from a probable win. The Under 11 Girls came away with the win - no doubt due to their spirit as evidenced in their match report written by one of the players: "My defender said to me at the start 'Wherever you go. I'm going to follow you'. She was a lot bigger than me but I wasn't scared."
The Under 10 girls had an excellent 2-1 win away today against Chisholm United. Despite 2 girls being away ill, the girls desperately hung on all day. 2 goals in the second half helped turn the 1-0 half time deficit into a win. The Under 10 Dragons played a brilliant game and the only difference between the teams was in the last few minutes when the dragons ran out of puff...

Weekend Results 14th / 15th June

After a couple of weeks off it appears the senior men have been busy at training as both teams came away with big wins on the weekend - a combined scoreline of 10-0 between both matches. Unfortunately the Senior Women's team had to forfeit due to high amount of injuries they sustained in last weeks bruising encounter - we hope the injured players get better very soon. The Under 16 Girls both had wins and are not far from the top of the ladder.

Senior Men 4-0 win
Reserves Men 6-0 win
Under 18 Boys 1-6 loss
Under 16 Girls Red 4-2 win
Under 16 Girls Blue 2-0 win
Under 15 Boys 8-0 win
Under 14 Girls 2-1 win
Under 13 Boys 1-1 draw
Under 12 Girls 2-0 win
Under 12 Boys Red 1-1 draw
Under 12 Boys Blue 7-0 win
Under 12 Boys Joeys 5-0 win

In the sub junior matches last weekend the usual culprits had wins and remain unbeaten: Under 9 Kangaroos, Under 9 Blues, Under 12 Blues and the top of table AND goal hungry Under 12 Girls who have an enormous goal difference on the next best team as well. The Under 12 Joeys had a big win at home to impress their coach who sadly missed out on watching all the goals - but he will no doubt hear all about it at training! The Under 12 Blues team continue to impress with another big win and now prepare for their top of the table match this coming weekend.
The Under 11 Blues continue to improve with their defensive line starting to work very well together and managing to hold out most attacks from their opposition. Inspired by the Italy and England match being played upstairs in the club while they warmed up on a wet and cold Sunday morning, the Under 11 Joeys put in a huge performance and came away with a well deserved win. The Under 9 Warlocks yet again put a stack of goals in the back of the net - likewise the Under 10 Sharks who have racked up some big numbers in the past few weeks.

Keep those matches reports coming in everyone - some teams are really getting into the spirit of it - the Under 9 Blues always have a detailed blow by blow account of the match and the Under 10 Sharks have been sharing the 'job' around amongst the parents and had the match report supplied in poetry from last weekend. Remember you team's webpage can be as detailed as you want it to be.
We'll finish off with some photos from the weekend "matches" on the big screen at the club - keep an eye out for the next round of matches being shown at the club and we'll see you down there!

With the senior men and reserves team having a week off it was up to the Senior Women to fly the flag for the club with a Sunday night match - and that they did. One player stretchered off, another limped off and a third player with a possible fractured toe. They may have lost it in a close one but they gave it their all in a physical and bruising encounter!

Senior Women 1-3 loss
Under 18 Boys 0-7 loss
Under 16 Girls Red 1-1 draw
Under 16 Girls Blue 4-5 loss
Under 15 Boys 7-2 win
Under 14 Boys 2-8 loss
Under 14 Girls 1-5 loss
Under 13 Boys 2-2 draw
Under 12 Girls 3-0 win
Under 12 Kangaroos Blue 12-0 win
Under 12 Kangaroos Red 4-1 win
Under 12 Joeys 0-10 loss

Junior Teams:
The Under 11 Kangaroos came through with a 2-0 victory for their first win of the year - well done boys - the hard work on the training pitch is starting to show results! The Under 11 Blues were all at sea against a much tougher opponent in the first half of their away match but came out after half time and showed real heart - their defensive line stood tall and only an unlucky own goal was the difference in the last 25 minutes of their match.
The Under 10 Girls had a 5-2 win away with 3 goals to Ezel. The girls are showing a massive improvement every week particularly when playing against older opposition teams. The Under 10 Sharks had another strong win and the Dragons continue to be unlucky in front of goals despite all their hard work.
The Under 9 Kangaroos and Under 9 Blues continue on their strong seasons with wins yet again. The Under 9 Warlocks also chimed in this week with a big win and the Wizards welcomed two new players this weekend in a tough match that had the team exhausted after giving their all for the club.

Thanks to all the teams who sent in photos and match reports this weekend. It's not too late to send in yours. Full reports for each team found under the team webpages with photos if they were sent in.

Weekend Results 24th / 25th May

The senior men's fixture at home this weekend was a couple of very hard fought matches. The senior men conceded an unlucky late goal for a 1-1 draw while the reserves won 4-1. Well done to both teams. The senior women played away and notched up a big 5-0 win - after a couple of weeks off they started a bit rusty but finished off with a brilliant second half.
The Under 16 Girls Red team conceded a goal 3 minutes into their match but then held off their opposition for the rest of the match to finish up 4-1 victors, and the Under 14 Boys picked up their first point of the year with a HUGE 2-2 draw against their top of the table opposition - awesome work boys!

Senior Women 5-0 win
Senior Men 1-1 draw
Reserves Men 4-1 win
Under 18 Boys 0-2 loss
Under 16 Girls Red 4-1 win
Under 15 Boys 2-4 loss
Under 14 Girls 3-1 win
Under 14 Boys 2-2 draw
Under 13 Boys 0-5 loss
Under 12 Girls 4-1 win
Under 12 Boys Red 1-3 loss
Under 12 Joeys 1-5 loss

Junior teams summary:
The Under 10 girls had a strong away win with 5 individual goal scorers, three of whom had never scored in a game before - Amelia (6 year old), Michaela and Caitlin. The Under 10 local derby between the Sharks and Dragons was a tough match for the Dragons against their stronger rivals but the Dragons fought it out well with the team spirit they have become much respected for.
The Under 9 Blues won their last match under outgoing coach Paul (and we thank him for all his great work) while one of the new coaches was on hand to witness their great teamwork. We welcome two Under 18 players Amir and Lawrence to the coaching position for the rest of the year and look forward to the team developing under their guidance - and Amir and Lawrence developing as players and coaches at the same time.
The Under 9 Wizards not only found the back of the net on several occasions but continued to play as a team and win the ball from the opposition. The Under 9 Warlocks ran in a stack of goals with 6 different players getting on the scoreboard and sharing the scoring around.
The Under 8 Blues came out of the blocks early and then held on for a well deserved draw as reward for a lot of great passing during the match. The Under 8 White team had another great showing as their self belief grows weekly - fantastic goalkeeping in the first half by Ethan and a great goal by James in the second half were just two of the highlights for the team.

Weekend Results 10th / 11th May

The over 35s and Senior Women had this weekend off - a week that was highlighted by the Under 16 girls derby at home on mothers day. As reported by the 16 Red team: The clash of the titans turned out to be a great game, with end to end battles as both defences were tested as momentum shifted back and forth. In the first half the reds could have been 2 or 3 up, if not for some great keeping by Ollie in goals for the Blues. We had fantastic contributions from new and old, with Mia and Cass steady in defence and Laurel (first game) and Phoebe (under 14) providing second half run, along with usual suspects Shanelle and Johanna hitting the back of the net.

Other match results in a tough week for most teams were:
Senior Men 3-4 loss
Reserves 0-3 loss
Under 18 Boys 0-8 loss
Under 16 Girls derby 2-2 draw
Under 15 Boys 5-6 loss
Under 14 Boys 1-4 loss
Under 14 Girls 1-4 loss
Under 13 Boys 0-0 draw
Under 12 Boys Blue 3-1 win
Under 12 Boys Red 1-9 loss
Under 12 Boys Joeys won by forfeit
Under 12 Girls 2-3 loss

Junior teams wrap up:
Under 11 Kangaroos had another big improvement from previous weeks and are heading in the right direction and fast with a great TEAM performance. The Under 11 Wallabies had a great match however were unlucky in front of goals. The Under 11 Blues had their best match of the year, hitting the back of the net 4 times with 4 different goal scorers - a couple of which happened due to players passing to a team mate in space rather than having a ping the moment they got it - this kind of thinking and team work was a great result for a lot of hard training sessions in the past weeks. The Under 10 Sharks had a narrow loss but put in a big performance.
Under 9 Kangaroos had another win on the road and the Under 9 Blues had another big win. The Under 9 Warlocks fought back from a halftime deficit to get themselves a well deserved draw with a last second goal. Very exciting and well deserved! The Under 8 Blues are very close to a win with great improvement every week - players looking for space and passing amongst each other. Well done boys. The Under 8 White fought out a gutsy 1 all draw and the Under 7 boys home derby was played in great spirit.

Most of the junior teams have already uploaded match reports to their webpages and shared it amongst the team and there are some great reports in amongst them if you are keen to check them out. Keep sending them in during the week - and photos as well like this great goal celebration in the Under 11 Blues... or the Under 8 Blues swarming their opposition!

Weekend Results 13th / 14th April

Both the reserves and senior teams played away this week against Parkmore and both narrowly went down in high scoring 3-2 losses.
The masters team managed to turn last week's 6-0 L into a 5-0 win against Montrose BC. Well done team. This coming week the senior teams have a week off but are next at home when the season kicks off for all teams on the 26th April so make sure you get down and cheer them on then.

Many of our teams had practice matches over the weekend - we know of Under 11 (pictured), Under 12, Under 15 and Under 18 boys all stretching their matchday legs over the weekend and getting in some good pre-season game time. We also had one of our Under 12 teams playing in a pre-season tournament on Sunday at Keysborough. Keep those match reports coming in.

This will be an ongoing weekly update so get ready to send in your results every weekend to website@chelseafootballclub.com.au and they will be published early in the week. Did we miss anyone this week?
