ROBBIE SLATER

AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR SOCCEROO AND SOCCEROO

Robbie joined Revesby Rovers as a 10 year old and played with us for 4 years.He then joined Auburn club for 3 years. At age 17, Robbie transferred to St. George where he played for 4 years playing in the National League. Robbie has represented Australia in Mexico in the World Youth Cup in 1983 and has also played for the Australian “B” side and New South Wales representiative sides.

At the age of 20, he was on the fringe of national Socceroo selection. By 1993 he had represented Australia 7 times. He also has a brother (Peter) who has played for the Rovers for a number of years, joining us in the 10s age group right through to playing in the All Age 1 and then the Alliance League.

Robbie continued his career in European soccer circles and has played for Southhampton, Blackburn Rovers and West ham in England. Robbie did return to Australia to play with Sydney club “Northern Spirit”. In 1993 Rovers were fortunate enough to have two jerseys and a soccer ball autographed by the Socceroos donated to us by Robbie via his father Matthew. These shirts are on display in our clubhouse.

STEPHEN O'CONNOR

AUSTRALIAN SOCCEROO

Stephen joined Revesby Rovers as a 7 year old in 1961 and was coached by Eric Drury for a number of years. It was Eric who introduced him into representative soccer for Bankstown as an 8 year old and in consecutive years up until the age of 15. Stephen was then chosen in the New South Wales team as a 16 year old and also played 1st grade for Bankstown.

He then joined the Hakoah club making his 1st grade appearance as a 17 year old in a team with such players as John Watkiss, Danny Walsh, Ray Baartz, Alan Marnoch and Jimmy McKay. He played with Sydney City (Hakoah) for 13 years in which time the Club won 4 national titles. He has represented Australia in the national team with 31 appearances.

MICHAEL AND MATTHEW GLENDAY

NSW & AUSTRALIAN DEAF TEAMS

Michael and Matthew started with Rovers in 1982 and played for a number of years before joint the deaf team in the Cantertury district.Michael has represented NSW and travelled to Korea for Australia in 1992.He has since returned to play for Revesby Rovers and in 1994 played for our All Age 8 team with his brother. Both were selected to represent Australia in the 1996 Asia-Pacific games in Malaysia.Matthew was selected for the Deaf team going to Taiwan in November 2000.
