Jason Ware broke the long standing
club games record when he played his
269th game for Penrith against the Nor-West Jets at Greygums Oval recently.
The previous record was held by fellow Life Member
Michael Walker and
stood at 267 games for a number of years before Mick filled in for the final Reserve Grade game of the 2007 season.
Jason played his first year with Penrith
way back in 1985 and would have to be one of the
longest serving players - if not the longest - in Sydney football. He has only missed
four seasons since that time and there are now many players representing the club who were
not even born when Jason first donned the Rams colours!
His list of achievements with the club is
extensive, but includes a
premiership, being
Club Captain, winning
Senior Grade Best & Fairest awards and captaining the
SFA representative side, amongst others.
The games record is one which will undoubtedly
stand for a long time and an achievement of which Jason should be
extremely proud.
Everyone at the club passes on their
congratulations to Jason on breaking the record and
thanks him for his
loyalty and
quality of his service to the club over such a long period of time.
